Dear Members,

Its about time we meet as soon as possible for about an hour or two and
take care of few things.
1. Member introductions
2. Meeting Schedule - I propose to meet on every second Thursday of the
month.
3. Sponsorship: Will your employer be willing to provide a conference
room? Sponsor Speaker Expenses, Hotel, Travel etc.
4. Interim Board Selection (Editorial Board, Program Committee, Web
Chair etc.) - Need people who are willing to Lead and be accountable
for various activities of our JUG in the coming few months.
5. www.hiteccityjug.org Website design, content, admin volunteers,
Development of tools to support JUG activities -- Meeting registration,
reminders etc. Some thing like: http://soujava.dev.java.net or better
yet partner with them.

Let me know if the date works for you and if you are willing to attend.
I know we still have to finish voting on the venue for this first
meeting but, I request all to be prepared for any location.

Regards,
Chakra.

Hi Chakra,

I have the following doubts

1. I am a newbie to Java and I have just finshed my B.Sc and joined as
a java programmer and I have been working for just 5 months, so I want
to know whether I am eligible to join this group and contribute may be
in future.

2. And if I can join this group, then, should I pay any money because I
didn't exactly understand your point number 3 (i.e., sponsorship)

3. If I can join this group then I have a little suggestion, thursday
is a working day for most of them I hope, so will it be okay if we can
schedule our meetings on any of the saturdays or on sundays may be.

4. And I am really interested in contributing the development of
www.hiteccity.org web-site designing, but, how can i do that?

Thank you and I hope that I my doubts are not idiotic. Regards,
Srikanth.

Srikanth,

Hi Chakra,

I have the following doubts

Below are my answers to your Questions.

1. I am a newbie to Java and I have just finshed my B.Sc and joined as
a java programmer and I have been working for just 5 months, so I want
to know whether I am eligible to join this group and contribute may be
in future.

Everybody who is working on (or learning) Java is welcome to join our  JUG.

2. And if I can join this group, then, should I pay any money because I
didn't exactly understand your point number 3 ( i.e., sponsorship)

At present, there is no membership fee to join our JUG. Hopefully it stays that way in future too. This is how JUGs (Java User Groups) typically work.

The mission of any JUG is to bring together the people who are interested to learn about Java (specifically the latest and greatest things). JUG members range from Experts, to professionals, to beginners to novices. Typically JUG meetings are sponsored by companies (mostly software development/product based companies) and publishers of Java related books. Speakers are typically Open source/Java experts, book authors and sometimes just normal people like you and me. All meetings and seminars are free. In some JUGs they have free food as well *Yummy!!* :-)

3. If I can join this group then I have a little suggestion, thursday
is a working day for most of them I hope, so will it be okay if we can
schedule our meetings on any of the saturdays or on sundays may be.

Most of the JUG members are Java professionals that are working five days a week. The weekends are meant to relax and recharge. The idea is to take *only two hours* out of your working day to attend a meeting once in a month to learn something new about Java that might help in your day-to-day development work. That is 2 hours out of 22 working days a month. If the JUG has to meet on weekends, then it is 2 hours out of 8 sat/Sundays! Not to mention how much it affects your plans for the weekend.

4. And I am really interested in contributing the development of
www.hiteccity.org web-site designing, but, how can i do that?

Glad to hear that you would like to volunteer. Lets talk more about it in our first JUG meeting.

Thank you and I hope that I my doubts are not idiotic. Regards,
Srikanth.

There are no silly questions. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Chakra.
