There is a meeting 7:30 Monday 25th Januaru 2010, agenda and details
here:
http://www.north-herts.gov.uk/aksnherts/users/public/admin/kab14.pl?operation=SUBMIT&meet=1&cmte=HPJ&grpid=public&arc=71

The most interesting items seem to be the Hutchin Urban Transport Plan
(delayed) and the S106 money available for transport schemes.

I have been to some of these meetings in the past and they are an eye-
opener if you want to see how the relationship between Hertfordshire
Highways and our elected representatives works. If you enjoyed "Yes
Minister" then you will enjoy this.

This is the forum where highways matters need to be raised to get
anything done. It would be useful If anyone could make the meeting and
post their impressions here.

What is significant here is the reason for the delay to the HUTP:
"The outcome of Luton council's decision on future development determines
what associated traffic movements and impacts are likely in Hitchin. As a
result, the progress of the HUTP has been put on holdl until further
information is made available."
So in other words, NHDC is in thrall to Luton council & work on Hitchin's
transport issues can't proceed in the meantime. Appalling, in my view, but
maybe pathetic is a better description.
