What was it about social, political, and musical in the 60s that made the country so ready for the British Invasion?

The British Invasion was one of the greatest developments in American music history. Because American Rock had lost its edge and British rock and roll was reinventing the music, bringing back that sense of rebellion and change that had previously been seen in American rock. This new change in music involved the record industry as well as AM radio in the US by British artists, particularly The Beatles and also The Rolling Stones who had proved that they were capable at recycling R&B and rockabilly songs of the 50s.

Were The Beatles and The Stones so good they could have made the charts at anytime or was it just good timing?

First of all, The Stones are one of the longest running bands yet. The Stones have changed their music throughout the time. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones have been two of the most influential bands on American Society. Beginning with The Beatles. American's had the first influence on the British when the Rock & Roll and Blues bands found their way over there. Young adults in England then became interested in combining both the US & British. The Beatles took advantage of this situation and Americans took to their upbeat music, a perfect cure for American's depression. The Rolling Stones and The Beatles were able to have such a "grand entrance" with their music into the US.

This makes a lot of sense, the British reinvented rock and roll, and a lot of music we listen to today is compared to those classics (even when it shouldn't be)
