What performers today are more pop, but are advertised as rock artists?

Some performers today are more pop but advertised as rock artists. A lot of them will release one album that could be considered rock and then sort of lean off of the genre but keep the title. Sort of like Taylor Swift and country music, although I believe she has finally come to except that she is just not country.

Are any of them (Britney Spears, or Madonna for example) as far from being rock musicians as Pat Boone was in the late 50's and early 60's?

I don't really know. To be honest, I don't really listen to artists from the 21st century, I generally only listen to 90's music unless it's from an artist or group that also released good alternative music n the 90's as well as now.
