The HEN Board has been discussing Shelby Ave. traffic and pedestrian safety with NDOT representatives for a few months. In particular, we have relayed neighbors’ concerns about speeding and numerous bad accidents along the 800 - 900 blocks of Shelby, and we have requested some sort of forum for neighbors to express concerns and for NDOT to present future plans for creating a safer Shelby Ave. NDOT has responded to our request by scheduling the District 6 "Road-eo".

"The NDOT District 6 Road-eo will feature active transportation projects, initiatives, and resources. NDOT will set up tables in the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center for community members to learn about the Main/Gallatin Vision Zero project, Shelby Ave safety project, East Nashville Spokes, the beautification program, and more. This is an open house style event. Participants can come anytime between 3 and 6 PM Wednesday, September 4th to speak directly with staff. Community members can pre-register for the event online."

The open house will highlight many other active NDOT initiatives in addition to Shelby Ave. All neighbors are encouraged to drop by and speak your minds.
