I won’t sign in—I’ve never had a successful meeting here from a Nashville source. (Now the Georgia History Center is another story!)
Besides, I don’t want to hear Brett babble on. He did not respond to my personal request for a list of the “several” supporters of demolition of 949 Russell Street. That’s supposed to be a matter of public record. I know he got the request, and ignored it. Several days later what did we find out at the MHZC meeting? Members of the HOA were unaware of a letter having been sent speaking for everyone for demolition. Obviously that was not the case. I don’t know why he’s mad at us, but he didn’t support us in opposition to demolition and he should have. When neighbors speak out on issues, he ignores the comments. It’s not the first time—another recent example: the Woodland St development.
When we have a face to face meeting, I’ll get back in the groove and come. The shoulder’s getting better every day!

I hear you Carol. I struggle with whether to pander as the group does, deferring to Withers. Or whether to endure the babbling and condescension (if not outright DERISION toward us) so that nobody can accuse me of complaining about HEN without trying to help HEN. Not that HEN welcomes help.
I have found, since getting involved around March 2020, the only way to get a win for our neighborhood is to intentionally work outside of HEN and not include Withers in our communication, as we mostly did for the 949 Demolition—our first win in ages.
You’ll note the Woodland St development—still a pressing open issue--was ONLY allowed, by HEN, to be presented by Withers and the developer with stifling rules for residents. Even after building a full-auditable Power Point on the subject, I was not welcome to just lay out the facts for our members so they could know what was being requested (above/beyond what the existing zoning/overlay allows), to give our members some context to form their own opinions…
I don’t get it.
It also seems Board members will be voted on this meeting? Is anyone fixin’ to share who has been nominated? What is the nomination process, etc.?
I think I would accomplish more Carol, coming over to your place with a bottle of wine than enduring these dog and pony shows. Really sad, as our neighborhood has a LOT of issues right now.
