I am completely new to this and I guess it operates much like all of the discussion groups. I am intersted in your thoughts on making this group better. I would like new members and I really want anyone to be able to participate. Any suggestions are welcome.

I would suggest (if you are near the city) that you could coordinate some small reasonable objectives-- maybe provide photos-- and create a shortlist of buildings to be modeled. The discussion could then clarify who is taking which building so there are not duplicates

hmmm... well this might be a problem as I am not close to the city. Do you think it will be a big problem? Oh man it would be an awesome problem haha.. I will tell you the truth that I dont expect many takers on my idea btu like I said it would be awesome. Lets try to come up with something together if your interested.. my main focus was the area around the Castillo... then maybe St. George Street. Ixboat (Kent) has been there before and is the one who suggested making a group so I know he is on board with this and I am looking to you guys for guidance. I will do my best to make it the best it can be.. even if we have only 4 members haha. This forum would be the idea place for someone to pop up and say "hey I would like to model such and such" . Maybe that would work as we get more folks intersted.  Thanks for the advice! Lets come up with a solution. Any other ideas on how we can keep from duplicating models?

If Kent is familiar with the area maybe he could choose say, five or six key building elements to be modeled. A KMZ file could be made with markers or a shared Google Map. As far as source photos go I am clueless. How did you get the photos again for what you modeled already? Did Google do a street view thing of the area?

I got all of my photos from Panoramio or Flickr.... Those that are'nt copyrighted of course haha. Google street veiw has some great quality photographs as well... Yeah I havent heard back from Kent since yesterday. Im sure he will be on this forum soon as he is going to be co creator whether he likes it or not. This was his idea! But anyway yeah He has shared that he has been there before and loves the area which is really what we need. I dont know how much time he has spent there but something is better than nothing I suppose. You should check out Flickr and Panoramio for photos. Cannons and the tourist destinations are the most photographed and arent hard to locate. the only trouble is finding 360 degrees for some buildings. another tool i have found useful is Bing Maps.. they have a more Sim City like view showing more demensions from an angled look above. Its pretty neat as far as seeing every side of the building your looking at if you dont have photos and dont want to guess.

Whoa, how did you get them off of Flickr? I have one ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/gravitarphotography/ ), and as far as I know, no one makes their photos downloadable. I'm curious. -Gravitar

Most of the time if you click on the photograph and open a larger version it will tell you if the user has disabled downloading or not. In the case of the Castillo most were available for download. It's just having to hunt them down that's a process

Yeah if you have a problem with people stealing and putting on their website I would think so. I wouldnt think anyone would be upset for using them for what I did. I would hope not anyway.

Yea, i just don't want people taking my stuff without my permission. But I would not think people would get mad at you for using it in a model
