I'll begin typing out what I know about the place in this topic.
I spent only two days in the area, many years ago, but I LOVE THIS PLACE.
The history, architecture, etc, are amazing.
I'll help us find someone from the area that knows it better than all of us,to advise us on what the important elements are.

TODAY I'm on the way out the the door to work a gold claim, and will be gone all day long.
on WED mid-day I'll get back to this project and get you guys some more stuff to think about.

Great project, looking forward to working with you on it.
You should also create a FB page about the project, and then use this Group and the FB page to help recruit more modelers and historians.

Photos: Picasa, Flickr, Panoramio , local chamber of commerce, National Park service

Thanks!
Kent

Here's the Google Group URL for another such project, as an example:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/masada-3d-team

Some other things this groups could possibly use:
- a shared Google DOCs area to upload/dload files
- a flat plan view (diagram) of the surrounding area, for naming convention and ID of needed building models
- links to local historical resources, organizations

How exciting! this is pretty awesome Kent. I believe I might use one of these as a cover photo for the Historic St. Augustine collection. I believe we should do the whole Castillo. Like the outer walls, bridges, moat, cannons ect. ect. ect..... and do a top notch job of it. That was originally my vision and I think it has expanded to the whole city.. or what we can do of it all. There are some great buildings that rival things you only see in Europe in this town albiet on a smaller scale haha... Gravitar has submitted a model today of a retail store in town and it has been included in the Historic St Augustine collection. Make sure to take a look!

Ive sent an email to jhump...@floridashistoriccoast.com Maybe this will help us gather much needed info and get us more FB page likes haha. I havent got a responce yet but I sent a message outlining our main goal which is the Castillo but also wanted to get more info on St. George street and access to any photos if they have them. Every one be patient and this will be full swing soon! I have a good feeling about it. I got the email at the St Augustine Facebook fan page.
