Lets get Neighborly Clean before the rains of Spring arrive!
Another step to keep clean spring water flowing, clear debris from channel to prevent blockage and preserve the ecosystem.
RCWA Call for Volunteers — 9 am Saturday, March 2
Join us at the West Precinct Community Room, 5500 Charlotte Pike for some Starbucks coffee and pastries before clean-up of a Richland Creek tributary needing our attention (event flier).
Dress for the weather (hat, gloves, good strudy boots/shoes) to clean for about 2-hours.
Free t-shirts to participants
Bring your unwanted pharmaceuticals for safe discarding to the West Precinct too.
Safe disposal is important for protecting drinking water and stream ecology.
Acceptable Items
Prescriptions
Over the counter medications
Pet medications
Medicated ointment, lotions or drops
Liquid medications (in leak-proof containers)
Inhalers
Pills in any packaging (glass bottles, plastic containers, plastic bags, etc.)
Unacceptable Items
Illegal drugs & narcotics (although police will accept these items if placed in the container)
Sharps/needles - use EPA's guidelines for disposing safely at home
Blood sugar equipment
Thermometers
IV bags
Bloody or infectious waste
Personal care products (shampoos, lotions, etc)
DO NOT FLUSH OR POUR MEDICATIONS DOWN THE DRAIN!
