In case you missed the notice in the Metro Historic
Zoning News newsletter that Wendell Goodman forwarded out a weeks ago, there is
a charette scheduled by the MHZC tonight, April 7th, on its Duplex
policy.
The charette is at the Sonny West Conference Center, 700
Second Ave. South. from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
Currently duplexes in historic overlay neighborhoods
have to be contained in one building. Developers are pushing to be
able to separate into two buildings either "stand alone" or with an "umbilical
cord" connector in historic districts.
Even thought Sylvan Park is now zoned RS, there are many
duplexes that are grandfathered in under the old law. This will
impact the Park-Elkins Conservation overlay and any future expansion
area.
Please try to attend the meeting tonight. Or
you can e-mail Robin Zeigler at robin....@nashville.gov to
express your concerns.
Thanks.
John
