Subject: CM Langster/Metro Planning to Proceed with Rezoning to Increase Density Without Additional Design or Historic Preservation Guidelines
All,
Yesterday I learned that the Metro Planning Department and CM Edith Langster plan to move forward with the rezoning to signficantly increase the density of much of Midtown without including any of the design or historic preservation features that were discussed at last week's community meeting. To provide you with some context, it is my understanding that this is the largest single upzoning brought to the Planning Commission since the the May Town Center proposal was brought for consideration in the Bells Bend area. Apparently, because the property owners in the area that expressed an opinion stated that they would prefer to move forward only with the additional entitlements without including additional regulations, she has made the decision to move forward only with the additional density entitlements.
This upzoning will be heard at the Metro Planning Commission on Thursday, April 25th at 4:00 p.m. If you wish to express an opinion about this proposal moving forward without any further discussion regarding additional design elements and/or historic preservation mechanisms, I would recommend that you contact Metro Planning staffer, Doug Sloan (doug....@nashville.gov), Councilmember Edith Langster (edith.l...@nashville.gov), and the Metro Planning Commissioners (planning.co...@nashville.gov).
Please also share with your listservs. If you would like to discuss this issue further, I would be happy to talk with you: 579-8929.
Thank you,
