I've extracted admission accounts from 2000 to current from STAR and created files in 2016. Ran same SQLs in QRE in 2018 with significant amount of records not extracted. Does dayend or monthend processing delete records? Most accounts were inactive.

Thanks

I'd probably have to have more detail on exactly what is occurring. I would expect the older data to not be available. Typically there is a delay in getting recent accounts coded. It depends how far behind the coders are. There are retention days that can be entered in the Abstract & DRG Census Criteria in STAR. It's client specific. After those days pass for a given account the diagnosis and procedure data is purged from the system. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you,

What are the tables you're using to get your admissions, and what tables are you joining with (and how are they joined?)

Can you post your FROM and WHERE clause? That will help us point you in the right direction

The data you return will be different if you start from different sources - for example if you were using the active or inactive account indexes, the accounts in the those tables will be different over time, because they're "as of right now" when you run a query. Using something like the admit date index as your base for admissions in a time frame is a better starting source.

Sorry for the late reply.

To be more precise, the queries use AG_ADM_DT_IDX and uses subquires to check if the patient is in either CE_ABST tables. If there is a client parameter that determines when these records are deleted, where are these parameters located? Does the DBA or user have access?

Just became aware that Allscripts has purchased McKesson's Star product.  Does anyone know what the future holds for Star?

Hey guys.
Did  you see a new announcement about this issue this week? Tge reason I ask is because Allscripts purchased McKesson products either late last year or the first of this year. After that they sold OneContent to Hyland. And McKesson officially became Allscripts on 04.01.18.

I did not.  I am aware that Allscripts and McKesson did their thing, I just thought maybe someone did hear something new.  I guess kind of like you were wondering.

So, McKesson Star, Horizon products,  any McKesson hospital,  physician practice products,  etc., were purchased by Allscripts?  Or did McKesson "sell out" to Allscripts?

I believe it was mutual.  McKesson was looking to sell off their Provider Technology Division.  If you Google McKesson AllScripts purchase there are lots of articles on it.  Here is one.

We are still on STAR and some of the ancillary products.  Everything has pretty much been re-branded and we have been working with AllScripts now for support of our old McKesson Products.

McKesson did not sell the Horizon products.  They sunsetted those.  Ours are currently supported by Leidos Health until we convert to Cerner Millennium.  STAR, Performance Anlytics, P-Con, and some others (Paragon) were all sold to AllScripts (including the old support teams and the building on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, GA).  McKesson sold their imaging solutions to Change Healthcare of which include McKesson Radiology (PACS) and Cardiology.
