Our registration staff inquired as to why the address does not show when you enter a physician by name during registration. McKesson said that it will only show if the physician truly has 2 offices….we found that if you have a “generic” second office we can say yes to the 2nd address field in the physician parameters, of course now you see an office and primary address which majority of the time is the same…As this indicator was being changed to a yes for all physicians, it was discovered that it caused issues with MR Abtracting, charge entry and who knows who else forcing the users to select an office every time they enter a physician.
Would like to know how other hospitals handled this if at all.

We turned this on not too long ago. We select the office when we are asked to. I haven’t heard anyone complain…..a lot of our staff physicians have a second office.
