SQL UNIX email function

[Weast, Audrey]

Has anyone noticed an issue with STAR's UNIX email not delivering files? I reviewed the set up to ensure correct email address, UNIX file name, etc., but I am noticing issues with files not being sent. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I always check our scheduled jobs to make sure two jobs are not scheduled at the exact same minute....and make sure the file names are NOT similar at the beginning....

Never had a problem unless I had keyed the email address incorrectly or had a comma instead of a blank between multiples addresses on one Recipient line. I usually include my own email address so I can verify that it was emailed and then just delete it out of my email.

Depends on the symptoms.

Is it a problem with all emails, or only some? If all emails, check your mail relay (DS) settings in sendmail.cf. If you had an update to your email system recently, you may need to enter a new mail relay and bounce sendmail.

Check your syslog for sendmail errors.

Test the email from UNIX by using the "mail" program at the command line:

$ mail myn...@myhosp.com
<type in some text here>
<Ctrl-D>
$

I appreciate all the responses. This tends to be an issue only with monthly jobs - and not all monthly jobs just some. I've re-scheduled numerous times, checked run, complete and send times but it doesn't resolve the issue.

Thanks again for the responses - I wondered if I had missed something.

This is a long shot and highly unlikely but do you know if your system admins put /hbo/sql on its own file system? If they have, is there any possibility it's getting 100% full during month end?

We have a number of /hbo/xxxx directories allocated to their own file systems so we don't clobber STAR if one of them fills up (/hbo/tmp and /hbo/sql for example). That's great until one of those fills up; STAR stays up but then things that write to those directories/file systems stop working.

Just a thought...
