and decided to set up the meeting recording option for OneDrive for Business now rather than wait for July 7, 2021 (opt-in) and we used powershell to set it up via Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity Global -RecordingStorageMode "OneDriveForBusiness" following the instructions from the article.

Test setup: 2 different Team meetings (scheduled from Outlook) within same organization, 1 with me as organizer, 1 with the other person - and then we both started a recording each. The organizer could always download.

Only new recordings are stored for now, but Microsoft says they will deliver facilities to move old recordings over from Stream to OneDrive. When this happens, the storage currently charged against the Stream storage quota for the tenant will be absorbed by OneDrive and SharePoint quotas. You might then have to pay more attention to reporting the amount of storage consumed in SharePoint and OneDrive for Business.

The answer is yes. In fact, you can trim uploaded videos, Microsoft Teams meeting recordings, and even live events. All you need to do is choose a video trimmer from this article, and then, you can start trimming Microsoft teams recording.

First, it is important to note that Teams recordings are now saved in New Stream (Stream on SharePoint). After that, the video will be deleted and end up in the SharePoint Recycle Bin, where it will stay for 93 days and then will be purged forever.

Since all the video recordings are stored in either SharePoint or OneDrive, you can also change the expiration date from the SharePoint side. By default, the meeting recording is saved within a channel folder in the Recordings subfolder.

Microsoft Stream is currently disabled. Teams meetings can be recorded but will not be uploaded to Stream at this time. Previously, the meeting recordings were stored in the Microsoft cloud (temporary storage) with a retention of 21 days (available for downloaded from the Teams client) before they were deleted.

Selecting Open in OneDrive will open the Recordings folder in your Office 365 account where all Teams recordings will be automatically uploaded. You can access this folder at any time from OneDrive by clicking My files and opening the Recordings folder.

To conclude, sharing meeting recordings, especially if you are trying to share a recorded teams meeting outside organization, can be a tedious task in addition to using traditional methods like downloading and uploading the video file. The below figure shows the Files tab in the General channel of the subscribed to OneDrive site from the above procedure. Notice the Recordings folder in the channel. This folder is created after you launch (AND record!) your first Teams meeting in the channel. It contains the recordings of all Teams meetings launched and recorded from this channel.

NOTE: The recording will be saved to the OneDrive of the person who started the recording. To ensure that faculty or TAs receive the recording, restrict the ability to record to the meeting organizer or selected individuals. This can be enabled when setting up a meeting under Meeting Options. Once in a meeting, organizers can select the 3-dot menu > Meeting Options. Change Who can present? from Everyone to Only me or Specific people. Consult Roles in a Teams meeting for more details.
