RDR2 on my PC seems to require an internet connection at all times. If I'm not online, the game won't start, saying offline activation is not possible. If I am online, the game will start, but if the connection gets cut at anytime, the game will automatically turn off. This happened to me today. I was in the middle of playing the story campaign, lost my internet connection for a few seconds, and the game automatically shut itself off, saying it require online activation.
Does anyone else have this problem? I am talking about playing the offline story, not Red Dead Online. Sometimes I might want to play in a room that doesn't have internet, or sometimes I do have internet but the wifi signal cuts for a few seconds.
If my internet service goes down, will the Ring Doorbell still be able to communicate with the Ring Chime (over the LAN/Wifi)? Or does operation between Doorbell & Chime require a connection through Ring servers?
Glad you asked @geo1963! Our Chime devices are wifi enabled and require wifi connection to communicate between your Doorbell and router. Without signal or the required power, the devices will not operate as intended. I hope this helps!
Hey @stukes. Our devices are wifi enabled devices and therefore require a solid wifi internet connection from a modem or router. They will connect wireless over your wifi network and the Ring app. You will need to ensure you have a 2.4 Ghz connection (or 5.0 Ghz connection if you have the 2nd Generation of the Chime or Chime Pro). Hope this helps clear it up for you!
Hey neighbors! Sorry for any confusion there may have been before, but since our Ring devices are wifi enabled, they need a constant connection via wifi and through a stable Internet connection. The devices will talk and communicate via the cloud for video storage and reporting events to your mobile device when the events happen, so therefore not having a stable wifi and internet connection will result in the devices not being operational and will fall offline. Hope this helps clear this up!
Last year not long after it was installed we had some guests round for dinner, and didnt realise the internet connection was down, so had one standing outside for a while wondering why I wasnt answering the doorbell. NB - Its a Ring Pro, and a v1 Chime, but I dont think the v2 is any different in this regard. The Ring Pro is connected to the 5Ghz wifi network, and the chime to the 2.4Ghz - but again I dont believe that makes any difference. (It does all work fine when the internet is up - which is most of the time!)
This should be investigated to be added to the firmware. It seems like it should be simple enough to add the ability, to communicate directly to the chime if connected to the same local network. Many other devices have such abilities. And this is definitely a device that should have this ability. Internet connections can be unreliable at times.
there should be really a fallback solution for this. yesterday with the amazon network failures my chime did not work for a whole day. it would be very easy - if there is no internet service, the doorbell should communicate directly with the chime via wifi. at least the gong / chime should work when there is no cloud service available. i am really disappointed and thinking about replacing the ring products.
Hi @user34077. If a Chime is connected to WiFi, that means it has an active internet connection. Without a internet connection, there is no way for the Chime to wirelessly communicate with Ring devices on your network.
I think most situations, where internet is a prbolem, the need to connect to the internet after a power reset, means that it is not of use. For example, if you want to use the cameras at a remote cabin, without internet access, or in your camper during a road trip with spotty internet access, it would not be a viable option to use the RTSP.
so i wanted to go on origin and i opened it a few days ago and i came up with is message (Attached) origin installation requires an internet connection, but we were unable to connect to the internet (even though i have an internet connection and origin was already installed). I already have a massive problem with origin as there is really no need for it if you are playing any of the sims and it never works anyway but i tried to live chat with someone and that is really hard to do so when i eventually found out how to do it i waited over 4 hours and gave up in the end because it just wasn't working. please help as i have all the sims 3 expantion packs and all but 3 of the sims 4 packs , i want my money back ( over 300)
I have Labview 8.0 installed on a NI PXI-1050 chasis with Windows XP and Service Pack 2 installed. The problem is that Labview will not load up (it locks up at finishing initialization) if I do not have the chasis connected to the internet via ethernet connection. When I connect to the internet and reboot the computer, Labview is able to start fine. The chasis is installed in a mobile vechicle and cannot always be connected to the internet. I've read that Labview 8 needs to connect to the internet to make sure the copy it is running is legitimate? Is this copy protection messing me up? Is there a way to run Labview 8 without internet connection?
Where did you read this? There's an initial activation that you do when you first install LabVIEW. but there's no "phone home" each time you launch LabVIEW. I can start up LabVIEW without an internet connection.
More than likely what's causing it are services that run and/or MAX. Software firewalls installed on a computer can block this communication even it's happening on a loopback, but you said that the problem goes away once you connect to the internet, so it's likely not a firewall issue. Is the PXI chassis normally connected directly to the internet through a modem, or is it connected to a router (when it's connected)? Are you using a static IP address on your PXI chassis?
I read that a while back off of some website. Honestly I don't remember exactly where and don't know how much truth it holds. I was just thinking that it may be a possibility. Ive checked my firewalls and nothing is blocking the Labview/NI software. The PXI chassis is not normally connected to the internet. However when it is, it goes through a router and I believe the ip address is static, but I'm not 100% positive.
No, I have the activation code and Labview does start fine when the unit is connected to the internet via ethernet cable. However, when the ethernet cable is unplugged and I double click on the Labview icon, the program tries to start. The loading labview window comes up, the window stays up and the bottom righthand portion of the window says "finalizing initialization". It stays in this state and will not finish loading the program no matter how long I wait. If I click in the window, I get a prompt in the upper lefthand corner of the window that says "not responding. This is what I mean by "Labview locks up".
My Desktop applications are all inside a secured Remote Desktop which has no Internet, I can not move the applications out of RDP due to Info sec issuees but i can get a special approval if for only one time internet is needed to activate community edition then it is possible but if UiPath requires internet on every run then it is not possible so please comment on this
It appears you can run a workflow from studio community edition without internet, however you lose out on all the functionality of orchestrator, as well as being able to download and install new packages which can be very necessary for workflows.
Studio CE checks the license every time is restarted. So after you first opened and licensed Studio, you can still develop automations if there is no internet connection, but next time you open it will require internet con nection to do the license check. This is because the CE is free and this is one of the limitations, that is required to be in an online environment.
Most ISPs offer several tiers of service with different Internet speeds, usually measured in Mbps (short for megabits per second). If you mainly want to use the Internet for email and social networking, a slower connection (around 2 to 5 Mbps) might be all you need. However, if you want to download music or stream videos, you'll want a faster connection (at least 5 Mbps or higher).
You'll also want to consider the cost of the service, including installation charges and monthly fees. Generally speaking, the faster the connection, the more expensive it will be per month.
A router is a hardware device that allows you to connect several computers and other devices to a single Internet connection, which is known as a home network. Many routers are wireless, which allows you to create a home wireless network, commonly known as a Wi-Fi network.
After you have everything set up, you can open your web browser and begin using the Internet. If you have any problems with your Internet connection, you can call your ISP's technical support number.
Our workplace requires that computers NOT be connected to the internet for security reasons. My newly installed Vegas Pro 18 (build 527) gives me a "pop up" screen when I try to move media into the timeline or attempt to render. How do I get around the screen that requires connecting to the internet in order to "authorize" various Codecs??? My workstation is a Dell XPS-8930 with Internet Explorer removed from the operating system.
Most NLEs and plugins require an online activation. As per @3POINT, how did you activate VP18 in the first place without an internet connection? Vegas Pro definitely requires an online activation at the install stage in order to use the NLE.
