Role Summary
We are
seeking a Cloud Platform Architect to design, standardize, and evolve
enterprise cloud platforms that enable application teams to build, deploy, and
operate systems reliably at scale.
This role focuses on platform abstractions built on cloud infrastructure,
combining cloud-native architecture, SRE principles, security-by-design, and
developer enablement.
The ideal candidate thinks in terms of platform as a product, not just infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Strategy
- Define cloud platform reference architectures on AWS.
- Design reusable platform services for:
- Compute (EKS, ECS, Fargate, Lambda)
- Data (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
- Integration (API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS)
- Establish platform roadmaps aligned with business and engineering goals.
- Drive platform standardization across teams.
SRE & Reliability Engineering
- Embed SRE principles into platform design:
- SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets
- Architect platforms for:
- High availability
- Fault tolerance
- Auto-scaling and self-healing
- Define incident response, observability, and resilience patterns.
- Reduce operational toil through automation.
Observability & Operational Excellence
- Design end-to-end observability architecture:
- Metrics, logs, traces, and events
- Standardize platforms using:
- OpenTelemetry
- CloudWatch
- Datadog / Prometheus / Grafana
- Enable SLO-driven alerting and dashboards.
- Support production readiness reviews.
Security & Compliance by Design
- Architect secure platforms using:
- IAM least privilege
- Zero Trust networking
- Encryption in transit & at rest
- Integrate secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, Vault).
- Ensure platform alignment with regulatory requirements (PCI, SOX, HIPAA as applicable).
- Partner with DevSecOps teams on policy enforcement.
Infrastructure & Cloud Enablement
- Collaborate with Cloud Infra teams on:
- VPC architecture
- Multi-account strategy
- Connectivity (Transit Gateway, PrivateLink)
- Provide guidance on HA/DR and multi-region strategies.
- Define boundaries between Infra and Platform responsibilities.
Automation, CI/CD & Developer Experience
- Define self-service platform capabilities.
- Standardize CI/CD patterns for cloud-native workloads.
- Promote GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Improve developer onboarding, documentation, and tooling.
Governance, Cost & FinOps
- Design platform governance models:
- Guardrails
- Quotas
- Policy-as-code
- Lead cost optimization strategies for shared platforms.
- Balance cost, performance, and reliability.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as technical authority for cloud platform architecture.
- Influence architects, engineers, SREs, and leadership.
- Review designs and guide implementation teams.
- Mentor platform and SRE engineers.
