Anyone else having trouble with Google Local? All my businesses are
showing as Rejected. They were fine for years. I just added a
business and Google took me to the end of filling in all the details
and even called the client to give the code. I can't even enter the
code b/c it's on the same list of "rejected" businesses. I read the
guidelines and can't figure out what's wrong. They all have real
physical addresses with real phone numbers, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I've had a local business that's been pending for over 6 weeks but
that's about it. Check to see if any of your clients have any
keywords associated with them that could have an alternative meaning.
I had an oral surgeon client that was rejected once because it had the
word "oral" in the copy which was banned for "porn related" issues.

Does Google places have any "further action required" info? Have you
made any recent changes other than adding the new business?

You may also want to consider requesting reconsideration of the account

Google is cracking down on listings that violate the guidelines. New
guidelines have been added in the past 3 months. Some of the ones that are
overlooked are:

1) Putting keywords in the title along with the actual business name. You
should only have the latter

2) Having content in your description and/or custom fields that are also
found in the title and/or categories. The guidelines explicitly state not
to do this.

3) Agencies having clients in their single account. Google does not like
this. Each listing needs to be in a separate account accessible by the
client unless they are the same business with multiple locations.

I'm guessing #3 is your problem. The good news is that it's an easy fix.
When you recreate listings in individual Google accounts, all the reviews,
citations etc from the old listing will merge into the new one in about 2
weeks. Make sure you delete the old ones from your account once you create
the new ones.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you both. I think it might be #3 as well since you are the
second or third person to say that. Fiona just suggested the same
thing. I'll take a look at the other things again, though.
