At my day job, the owners of our website want to split it into two
sites - a "Marketing" site and a "Corporate" (Info) site. From an SEO
standpoint (or otherwise), is there an advantage to doing a subdomain
instead of a regular domain? For example, our current site is www.oursite.com
and would stay at that domain and be the Marketing site. The
Corporate site could be either www.ourcorporatesite.com or
www.corporate.oursite.com - is one of those better than the other?

Hi Wes,

To the best of my memory recall on this question, a subdomain will
essentially be viewed by search engines as part of the master domain.
So it's a better move in terms of SEO "because" in my opinion, if you
create an entirely separate website, you'll split in half all your
branding, site content, break inbound links, confuse clients, etc. I
definitely don't understand the reasons/potential gains by making such
a move, but I'd go with the subdomain if you have to do one or the
other.
