Lost in Hipihi...

Here is a short summary of my situation.
-I have my Hipihi World Interface English Translation (2007.7.6)
-I have the Power Point presentation
-I have a name (Sofi) and a password and I can connect in Hipihi
-I have changed my settings <LocalSetting>1</LocalSetting> so that I
can see the buttons in English
-I have the Chinese language selected in my Regional Options : 54936
(Chinois simplifie GB 18030)
-I have deactivated the advanced text services in my "Entry
parameters" (Paramètres de saisie in French)

But...
When I enter in Hipihi
-I cannot see my avatar and all is dark
-I can only see my name (Sofi) in the middle of the screen
-I can teleport, walk, swim, but I am blind...
-I can use all the buttons without crashing (good:-) but a lot of sub-
buttons are NA (bad:-(
-The Map is beautiful, I can see a big land and lot of islands + some
green dots (I assume these are people...)
-I can see Intel and VS, but nobody to welcome me there, only
darkpitch, no building, nothing...
-One time I managed to get close to a big flame, but didn't figured
out what it was (derrick...?)

I would be happy to see at least my avatar, even headless...

Here my specs:
Windows XP with SP2
DirectX9 or superior
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2.00Ghz, 1.00Go RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 6200 128Mo

I have used Second Life for more than 6 months now, without any
problem (only the usual lag...)

My Internet connection is 512ko, it's rather low but it works fine
with SL, why not with Hipihi...?

If someone could help me.

Hi:

Sorry to hear of your problem. I don't know the answer offhand - I
don't work for Hipihi and have no special access to support
information.

Here's what I would do:

1. copy your problem description that you posted here and email it to
sup...@hipihi.com
2. hopefully you are able to log in to the hipihi.com web site and
access the forums. if so, go to the overseas zone forum and paste
your post here into that forum site. That site, forums.hipihi.com,
is the official Hipihi forum.
3. sign up at the ideashape forum and paste your problem description
there as well. The url is www.ideashape.cn.
4. If you would like, I will copy your problem description and put it
in both the hipihi and ideashape forums.
5. check the hiphi and ideashape forums to see if your problem has
been presented and solved.

6. if you didn't try teleporting anywhere, try that.

Your computer specs sound fine.

Did you download the current version of hipihi from the links on the
hipihi site?

the response, which somewhats defeats the purpose of having a publicly

hipihi group, post your problem on the Hipihi board or wall or
whatever it's called, and send a message to Bjorn Lee and Zafka Zhang,
who both work for the Hipihi company.

I read in the IdeaShape forum, at www.ideashape.cn (which is in
English), that there will be a new version of Hipihi very shortly,
like this first week of December, so maybe that next version will work
differently.

You could IM Second Life avatar Jolly Heron for help with your problem
with www.ideashape.cn . Jolly is the one running it.

Well,. some at the Hipihi forums pointed out that your video card
doesn't meet the minimum system requirements.

PC minimum System Requirements:
Operating System: Windows 2000（SP4） / XP（SP2）
Internet Connection: DSL/CABLE/LAN
Network speed：50Kbps
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 6600/ATI Radeon 9600 64MB
Screen Resolution: 1024*768
CPU：Intel P4 2GHz/AMD Sempron 2500+
Computer Memory: 512MB
DX：DirectX 9.0c

They advise the next version, due very shortly, in a week or so, will
have a lower requirement, namely the 6200 , which is what yours is.

I don't think this is a Hipihi employee reporting what what the
upcoming sys specs will be. I haven't found these announcements yet.
I suppose I should try using the Google cross language search on the
hipihi site.

Hi, Sue,

thanks a lot for your help. The new version HiPiHi client will be released these two days and will have a lower graphic card requirement as you have known. Our technical guy now is taking measures to optimize the graphic rendering speed and quality, and try our best to lower the hardware requirements.

The new version HiPiHi has a lot of improvements. The english version of introduction of this new version will be announced soon. Bjorn will email it to you and other hipihi group members.  Hope we could meet in a updated HiPiHi world soon. …
