Hi,

I've tried it on my LG G3 phone but with no luck. It doesn't even respond when I press my headset button (Cardo Q1 headset for motorcycles). I guess that something is messing with the connection. Maybe the built-in Voice Mate app that comes with the device. But I've disabled it and nothing...

Any clues?

* I have also tried it in another phone (Samsung) and it works like a charm.

Thanks!

Hi Luis,

I thought I found the name of the default voice command app on LG phones with the help of XDA member workdowg, but it could very well be carrier or version dependent too.  We will have to find out what app is assigned to the headset control:
  1. we will need to find the Voice dialer app in the Application Manager in Settings.  Since it's a system app, it will be in the "ALL" group. Open its settings screen
  2. scroll down to reveal the "Clear defaults" button:
    • if it is available, press it → you can go back to Hint2Search and assign the button
    • there's a chance that it cannot be cleared from being the default app (again, like SVoice for Samsung users), then your only option is to "Disable" the app (at the top of the same screen).
If you ever want to re-enable the Voice dialer app later, you will find it in the "Turned off" section of the application manager
It would eventually be useful to find out the package name of this application, because I could include a shortcut to it in my app, the way I did it with the SVoice app on Samsungs or the VoiceCommand app on some LGs, making it easier to disable or re-enable... But it is not so straight forward to find the package name, you need to run the app named System Info, and search for the (not yet disabled) Voice Dialer. Anyway, all you need now are the above 2 steps... hopefully.

Hey,

I had already tried those two steps, but the buttons to clear defaults and disable de Voice Mate app are not active. They appear shadowed.

Regarding the Android package, I installed that app you suggested and it would be this (I guess):

android:package="com.nuance.voicemate"›

How funny this phone, the Voice Mate app doesn't work with my bluetooth headset, but it doesn't even allow me to use another one to do the trick...

Thanks!

Let's test this.  I just submitted a new beta (1.07) to the play store where I temporarily changed the package name from "com.lge.mtalk.voicecommand" to "com.nuance.voicemate". Please try this temporary release (should be available for beta users within a few hours).

Let me know if the button "VoiceCommand2" appears for you, and if it allows you to disable Voice Mate this way. If it does, I will add a VoiceMate button properly (not just replacing the existing one).

As I point out in the What's new seciton, this release is only for those using LG phones and for whom the disable VoiceCommand button didn't show up in previous versions.

OK! I'll try that new version and I'll let you know if it finally works for me.

Thanks a lot! Great support!

Hi,

Still nothing with the 1.0.7 beta version. The disable button still is shadowed. I've tried forcing detention on the app, but nothing.

It's really weird as I don't even get the pop-up prompt to select the voice preference.

So, no luck yet...

That's unfortunately the reason you don't get the choice dialog, because LG or your service provider locked down VoiceMate.  There are some locked apps on my Samsung phone too, but by luck it's not SVoice here. If you have root access, you can still delete these locked system apps from the /system/app folder. I did that to many Samsung cr@p. But you need root for that.

Then it's that, we cannot do anything I am sorry to say.  At least my abilities stop here.  You can maybe look for a way to root your phone.

And of course if you send me a private email with your order number I will certainly refund your purchase price.

Can you please tell us what version of the G3 are you using? Is it a carrier version?  I know on some versions of this device it is possible to disable the voice command app. I keep this thread open for other G3 users to chime in.

Hi,

My G3 version is the D855. Yeah, I know I can disable system apps being root, with Titanium Backup, for instance. When I was on KitKat I had root privileges, but they were lost when I (foolishly) updated to Lollipop.

I know there's no easy way now to gain root again. I'd have to downgrade to KitKat and do it there. But I see it too risky with the methods I've seen and I think that I'd loose all my apps+data (I think).

So, it seems that I'm stuck with this until the guys on XDA find a safe way to root over Lollipop. I hope it'll be soon.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your support. Great work!!!!

Hi.
1.07 not working without root. Default voice application (Voice Mate) can not be stopped or reset its settings.

I just happened to stop by the site to see if anything has been updated and I seen this post. I actually had it working on my LGG3 and can confirm that it worked for me. Only issue I had is that it wouldn't wake the screen with Knock on, I didn't try the other screen locks. This method might be what some might like but I would prefer the screen waking as an option. But I did email  DYNA on 12-19-2014 and they responded that they were looking into it.

Hey!

Can you tell us how you made it work? Do you have the Voice Mate app installed? Is your G3 rooted?

I'd like to know the details to see if I can make it work too.

Thanks!

Details first...VS985 rooted with Stump and bump'd TWRP 2.8.4.0 running stock 12b with a few basic mods.

I went into system/priv-app/ through ROM Toolbox and did a seach for "voice" in this folder. I added .bak to every .apk and .odex except LGVoiceRecorder. I then forced Stop on the Voice mate app in the application manager (didn't have the option to disable or clear default prefs). I rebooted to make sure everything took (threw a little salt over the shoulder) then went through the Hint2search process. I did notice that the button to disable the Voice command was gone. The voice command does work now for the Hint when you touch the pad.

I am not sure where the Voicemate app is located.
