Ifyou're using Windows and you've installed a Brother driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver.
Scanner is recognised by "Document Scanner", starts to scan, preview appears, then gives popup with "Failed to scan. Unable to scan."
Repeated attempt to scan has Document Scanner giving "Failed to scan. Unable to connect to scanner."
Remove your printers and then reinstall the Brother drivers. I had two show up on another distro and it was giving me weird issues as I had to keep selecting the other printer if I wanted to print or scan.
I removed both printers then reinstalled the Brother drivers and it stopped. I've had this issues on Windows before as well. It's almost like the system is trying to setup the system using whatever driver it wants, then when you install the correct driver and it creates two printers.
Thanks DeanG.
I've got two: a 3750 upstairs and a 5755 downstairs.
Uninstalling and reinstalling sounds like a good next step. I saw uninstall instructions came from Brother with their download.
But neither ESCL MFC-L3750CDW nor 'ESCL MFC-L3750CDW' will scan.
Document Scanner gets half way through the image and then error message "Failed to scan. Unable to scan." appears.
xsane shows "Error Failed to start scanner: Invalid argument"
Scanning
Both Brother MFCs will do single page scans from the flatbed using from the support in the Linux (?)kernel which provides the ESCL options in Simple Scanner / Document Scanner.
Neither will do multi-page scans using the ESCL option.
Summary
There seems to be conflicts between the built-in Linux drivers and the ones provided by Brother. Removing the ones from the Brother website allows printing and very restricted scanning to occur.
If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter Brother MFC-L3750CDW into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.
I have a relatively new printer and am using non genuine toner.
The print quality is very poor with colours being faded. Small printing is almost unreadable.
I have tried calibrating the printer and re-install of the drivers but nothing is working.
Is there a fix for this or am i looking at getting a better printer?
I am using ink hub cartridges.
If i print in Black the quality is much better.
I have read about the MS IPP class driver being installed which i see i have. I will try removing it and see what happens.
Thank you for your replies.
You should be able to print test pages with either PCL-6 or BScript/PS emulation. I'd also make sure the default print resolution in the printer properties for PCL-6 and BScript is 600dpi and not 300dpi. Sometimes I've seen 300dpi for faster PPM printing.
Printing, scanning, faxing, and copying documents with Brother MFC L3750CDW requires the efficiency of its driver. For instance, the driver influences the printing functions and supports Laser printing technology for fast printing. In addition, it works with 4x Toner configuration and duplex printing, and it supports a print resolution of 600 x 2400 dpi (dots per inch). At the same time, the supported print speed by time includes 25 ppm for black and color. In addition, the supported monthly duty cycle is 30,000 pages, and the recommended monthly duty cycle is 1500 pages.
Moreover, it works with 33.6 kb/s modem transmission speed, 500 pages of fax memory, and 200 numbers speed dial capacity. In addition, it supports Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Wi-Fi Direct. On the other hand, the compatible operating systems are Android, Windows, iOS, and macOS.
AirPrint is a technology built into most popular printer models, including those listed here. With AirPrint technology, it's easy to print full-quality photos and documents from your Apple device. AirPrint features include easy discovery, automatic media selection, and enterprise-class finishing options.
The printers, print servers, and USB-only devices listed here are provided by each manufacturer and updated regularly by Apple. If you don't see your model, check with the manufacturer for more information.
To use AirPrint, you don't need to install an app, additional drivers, or other software. Just connect the AirPrint printer to your Wi-Fi network, then choose it in the print dialog when you print from your Mac or print from your iPhone or iPad, for example.
Similar to AirPrint printers, these USB devices allow you to print or scan without having to install additional drivers. Because they require a USB connection, they support driverless printing or scanning only from Mac computers.
