Jai Bhavani
Veer Shivaji
On the Saturday of 16th January all the Karyakartas from San Jose State University shakha, gathered for a noble cause to clean the statue of great leader, a true king, “Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj”. This was one of the special day in shakha where we visited the “Guadalupe Park” in San Jose. The park has a beautiful statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, situated at bank of Guadalupe river and surrounded by lush green grass. This initiative was inspired by the “Clean the statues” campaign started by Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi.
We all gathered around 4 in the evening and started with cleaning up the surroundings and the stage of the statue. Two of our karyakartas went up on the stage to clean the statue of Shivaji Maharaj. Around 4:45 we finished cleaning up whole area and the statue. After that we decorated the place with flowers and discussed about the great deeds and facts about this great warrior.
With the feeling of pride in our hearts and utter satisfaction of the work we did, we ended the celebration with National song “Jana Gana Maana”.
