T

he auspicious occasion of Arudra Darshanam celebrating the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva in the form of Nataraja, occurs on the full moon day in the month of Margazhi. The cosmic dance of Lord Nataraja represents Creation (symbolized by the drum), Protection (by the "fear not" hand gesture), Destruction (by the fire in his left hand), Embodiment (by the foot planted on the ground), and Release (by the foot held aloft). In essence it represents the continuous cycle of creation and dissolution.

On this day, the puranaas say that Lord Shiva performed his Ananda Thandavam to two of his devotees -Vyagrapadha and Adisesha

.

We are celebrating Arudra Darshanam on January 9, 2010. All devotees are requested to participate.

Regards,
Subra Natarajan
