Dattatreya Jayanti is the day when we remember Lord
Dattatreya as Adiguru, the original
preceptor. "Datta" means not
only "that which is given", but also as the ideal of "giving" without desire for
reward, i.e. selfless giving. Symbolic meaning of Lord Dattatreya’s form
represents 3 heads- Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara
principles.
Our temple is one of the few temples in U.S.A. having
special arrangements for Datta Jayanti celebrations and devotees are
requested to participate.
Dattatreya Jayanti is being celebrated in our temple
on December 5, 2009 between 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm. Dinner will also be provided at a nominal
cost.
