My workaround is to use ConEmu. It's much superior to cmd.exe alone and even gives you color highlighting when running bash. I've tested it and Ctrl+v does work. As a nice plus, you get a tabbed terminal.
As we figured out in the comments, the Paste entry in the window's system menu only activates after pressing Ctrl+V once, which is unusual. After that, though, you can use the sequence Alt+Space, E, P. (Courtesy of this Stack Overflow answer by Nescio.) That's not optimal, but it works.
If the Bash on Ubuntu on Windows window has a Properties entry in that menu, you might be able to check the "QuickEdit Mode" box on the Options tab to allow right-clicking in the window to count as a paste.
The problem is not specific to "BASH on Ubuntu". All Windows commandline windows experience this including cmd and powershell. Access the window menu under the icon in the top left (another answer mentioned alt+space, this opens the window menu). Choose defaults. Enable QuickEdit mode.
I have tried everything I can think of, I've had two friends who deal with IT problems look at my computer via shared screen with no luck. Since updating to Windows 11 I never noticed Windows Security would not open until recently, it's active and running in the background in Task Manager. I've tried the Powershell and CMD hotfixes, I've reset my PC locally and cloud but I have no restore or recovery points prior to the Windows 11 update. My PC is up to date on all firmware from Microsoft but Windows Security still will not open. Windows Security nor Windows Defender is not listed under my "Installed Apps" or "Default Apps" so I can't try a drop down repair on it. It does show within my Task Manager that there is Windows Defender engine running and in the hidden icons tab it shows Windows Security active. How do you fix this without having to lug your whole PC to a shop?
Repair Windows Security using DISM: Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the following commands: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup
@ShahbazUbaid my windows license is already expired. and i am not getting any security updates ever since. and that is also the time where i noticed that my windows security app won't open. is it because of my windows license bein expired? do you think if i reactivate my license, it will solve my problem?
@TayDean It's early 2024 and I am in the same boat since the most recent update. In all their wisdom, Microsoft has removed Troubleshooter with this update and wants me to contact tech support. The last time I did that, I was 77 people away from help. I do not have that kind of time.
I've tried all the suggestions here except reinstalling Windows, which is a major hassle and would require hunting down the software I use for work and reinstalling it too. I had to do this once last week because a previous update crashed my computer. It created all manner of work-related issues.
This is really dumb and Microsoft should have fixed this already. But I'm open to more suggestions.
@ShahbazUbaid I appreciate the suggestion, but it didn't work. I'd actually tried it already along with a host of other suggestions found in other places, but thought I'd missed something. I did not.
I'm fairly sure I'm going to have to reinstall Windows again to fix this. It will have to wait until the weekend as I work full-time from home and this has eaten up far too much of my time as it is.
Exceedingly frustrating.
I discovered that this feature stopped functioning approximately three weeks ago. I'm using Windows 10 Pro with Evernote version 10.79.3. When attempting to open a note in a new window, two windows appear on the Windows taskbar. However, clicking on the new window does not cause it to pop up in any browser.
If nothing works then I think it is probably either a local database or instalation problem as this problem isn't being mentioned by anybody else. To refresh the database you can sign out of EN and choose "remove my Evernote data from this device". You can then sign back in. All the data will be downloaded again. This may take some time but EN should be usable in the mean time. It's always good to double check that everything is correct on the server before you do this as anything not synchronised will be lost. You can do this by logging in to the web version.
Just to be clear, the note will not pop up in a browser, but in a separate window in Evernote. When I right-click a note in the Notes List and click Open in new window, a new window pops up right away, the Evernote icon on the taskbar gets a kind of "shadow", and when I hover the mouse over that icon I see a popup with the main Evernote window and however many separate note windows are open. Are you not seeing any of that?
I have the same probem that, on Windows 11, the "open in new window" function is not actually showing the window, except as small windows on the task bar. This problem started spontaneously about 4 weeks ago. I tried all of the above tricks but nothing has worked to resolve the issue.
My wifi driver (Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz) has completely ceased to function. I've tried running the Driver Assistant tool multiple times, and installing the newest version of the driver has not helped at all.
I'm not very technologically inclined and I'm having a really hard time understanding what to fix here.
What mean for you "manully shutdown", "manually restart" - I usually go at Windows icon then Power -> Restart/Shutdown.
Maybe you can check my components at my profile, I install "Intel Driver & Support Assistant". I am Computer engineer and work like Web developer, so I know some stuff. I also bring PC to local PC experts but did not helped me. Motherboard seller said that he did not have fault Motherboard like this, usually is something bigger. He also think this is driver issue/conflict and he can send me new motherboard.
I have a similar problem with the Intel Wifi 6 AX201 160Mhz, it still doesn't work despite following the same instructions, I recently did a fresh install of Windows 11 and to date it's the only device that doesn't work. The strangest thing about the issue is that Bluetooth doesn't work either and it doesn't appear in the list of devices, can you help me?
For the people with issues make sure you really follow each step as Scott mentioned and, for me, after the new drivers are installed I had to shut down the pc on the power button otherwise would still fail for some reason.
I have a Dell Optiplex 7090 with AX201 network adapter, been having problems lately, at least 3 months of this. I have a huawei AX3 Wifi 6 router, before it was working fine, usually got 2.1gbps speed, suddenly AX201 dropped. I have a notebook with AX201 showing similar symptoms.
The symptoms that I found were that I couldn't access Wifi 6 5GHz, only 2.4GHz.
Apart from wifi 6, I also have a wifi 5 router TPlink C8 which also worked fine before, on average it can get speeds of up to 1.3gbps.
After the issue of not being able to connect to 5GHz wifi 6, I tried connecting to Wifi 5, it turns out that the highest speed is only 190mbps.
I have tried the steps given here, I applied on a notebook and Dell Optiplex 7090, but it didn't work, the symptoms remain the same.
I have another older notebook but the wifi card has been replaced using the AX210, it doesn't show the same symptoms as the AX201.
Finally I tried changing the wifi card on my Dell Optiplex 7090 using AX210, the above symptoms disappeared, AX210 worked perfectly, connecting to Wifi 6 got 2.1gbps, and to wifi 5 got 1.3gbps on the same wifi network as AX201 used.
It can be concluded that the issue is indeed the problematic AX201, if you search the internet, many complain about the AX201, and not a few who provide various kinds of troubleshooting but nothing works.
Hi, even though this fix works for a while, it isn't a final complete fix, the problem is related with some keyboards or mouses wireless, Logitech in my case as soon as I disconnect the wireless keyboard and mouse restart the machine and reinstall the driver the problem is gone. Something in this chip doesn't like my wireless mouse or keyboard.
