Hello Hindi USA Parents and Volunteers,

Welcome to new session of Hindi USA! Hindi USA is a non-profit organization that promotes the Hindi-language as well as attempt to instill the Indian culture among our kids. We will soon have our first event celebration i.e. 'Festival of lights - Diwali'.

Please mark your calendar for - Friday, November 16, 2018 (No Hindi class will be held)

Our Diwali celebration is always full of amazing cultural performances by Hindi USA students. There are some simple guidelines..

1) Each performance should have at least 6 kids (for stage coverage and to try and include most kids)

2) Each performance should not exceed 5-6 minutes

3) Each kid can participate in only ONE performance (It should be hassle-free)

4) Each performance is responsible for providing their music, costume etc.

5) All performances are choreographed and directed by volunteer parents. So please talk to the other parents in classroom.

Thank you for your co-operation and more details to follow...

I really enjoyed talking to everyone yesterday about upcoming Diwali Program. Many queries were related to kid's participation in performance.

For the past 6 years, parents came forward, shared their ideas, volunteered their time and efforts to make a group. Every parent in that group helps with different things like costumes, choreography, music etc. whatever is required to put a show together. The whole idea is parents can spend some quality fun time with kids.

To make a group, parents can start with other parents within Hindi class. If class level group is not available or full, talk to the other parents in the hallway. You just need to share your need with others and I am sure you will find or make the group.

Choreographer Parents, please be open to accommodate as many kids as possible. Every year, we have above 90% of kid’s participation. We don't want any child feel left behind. It’s their stage and let us gives them opportunity to shine.

Very basic guideline...

1) Stage is only for Hindi USA Kids/Parents

2) Minimum 6 participants per performance

3) One kid - one performance

4) Performance should not exceeds 5-6 minutes

5) In past we had classical, Bollywood, regional dance (Punjabi, Kashmir etc.), skits, fashion shows...anything which you all enjoy.

Hello Everyone: We are almost there. Hopefully, the weather will settle down by Friday so that we can enjoy beautiful Indian outfits. Lots of efforts have been poured in by each and every one of you and it’s time to enjoy. This year we have extended our invitation to Superintendent BoE Mr Earl Kim and Mayor of Stamford, expecting them to join us around 7:30 PM.

Here are some final details...

When - Friday, Nov 16 (No Hindi class will be held)

Time   - 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM

6:30 PM to 7:00PM - Enjoy appetizers before the show in cafeteria

7:00 PM to 8:30PM - Show time (Cultural Performances in auditorium)

8:30 PM to 10:00PM – Feast Time (Indian Vegetarian Dinner)

Where - Stamford High School Auditorium and Cafeteria (55 Strawberry Hill Ave, Stamford CT)

Enter thru cafeteria entrance which is side of Stamford High Building, when you enter the Stamford High and drive down towards the Tennis courts (just opposite to medical building parking lot).

Performance Order has been shared with all choreographers.

My humble request to all -

Please maintain the silence during show and enjoy every performance.

Please make sure kids are not running around in auditorium. Parents are responsible for their own kid's safety.

No food allowed in auditorium, there is fine for that.

Please don't waste food. Request you all to dispose plates after dinner.

Let’s celebrate and have a memorable event.

Thanks,

Congratulations everyone for making this program a big success. The entire evening was truly enjoyable. It was delightful to watch young kids performing on Bollywood and folk songs. It’s all possible because of your efforts and contributions.
