It gives me immense happiness to inform you that Dr.(Mrs.) Anita Bhatnagar Jain, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has kindly agreed to Honour the forthcoming international conference "Role of Translation in Nation Building, Nationalism and Supra-nationalism" New Delhi, December 16-19, 2010 jointly being organized by Indian Translators Association and LinguaIndia as our Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker.

 

Dr. Anita Bhatnagar Jain is currently Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.  As an Indian officer from Indian Administrative services, she has served  at various key positions such as Commissioner of Kanpur Division, Commissioner of NCR;      Managing Director UPSSIDC,  Director State Urban Development Agency, Vice Chairperson, Kanpur, Development Authority, District Magistrate Kanpur etc.

 

With Ph.D in Tourism Studies she has authored several books and papers with focus on social development and environmental studies, including a few at United Nations. He has also been instrumental in launching a movement relating to environment. About 45 schools with around 75000 children are associated with this movement.  These children are called the “Bal Paryavaran Vahini” or the “Children’s Environmental Army”.  This movement reached its heights through her documentary film “Our Earth Our Home” which is focused on what schools, students and parents can do to make the world a better one.

 

For her excellence she has received prestigious awards such as the Best Lady I.A.S. Officer Award by Lucknow Award Council at the 50th Anniversary of Independence, in 1997; Award for Administrative Excellence, instituted by the State Women Commission, from the Chief Minister, UP at International Women’s Day in 2005; Received the Bal Suraksha Samman from the Hon’ble Governor of U.P. in 2003 for constituting “Bal Paryavaran Vahini” (Children’ Environmental Army) of about 75,000 Children; the Paryavaran Suraksha Samman from Prabudh Yuva Bharati in 2002; Awarded “Paryavaran Shiromani” award by the Chief Minister, U.P. in 2001; Awarded Gold Medal by the Chief Minister, U.P. for achievements during the tenure of District Magistrate, Lakhimpuri Kheri; Appreciation Certificate for outstanding management, incomparable dedication, efficiency and leadership capacity, jointly from the Chief Minister, UP and the Chief Secretary, UP in December, 2006.

 
More than 150 speakers representing 60 universities from 25 countries will share knowledge about translation, interpretation and alike activities that play an important role in the socio-economic and cultural growth of a country. The conference would serve as a vibrant platform for experts and learners to enhance their expertise through discussions on diverse subjects linked to Translation, Interpretation, Diplomacy, Nation Branding, Cultural Diversity, Teaching and Training in Translation, Terminology Management & Project Management in Translation, Machine tools, Technology and Innovation in Translation. The experts will discuss the huge importance of Translation as a tool for the national integration and cultural diversity.
