I have a suggestion here on how we can go about proof reading. All people can proof read at the same time. During this time, no changes will be made to the originally completed translation but all people can post suggestions on the lines they feel need correction in our google group. A portion of the task can be done at one time or all of it can be done simultaneously. If in the end their are problems with a few lines that we have a disagreement over, a meeting on team speak can be scheduled and those lines can be addressed, and a decision can be arrived at ;)

Hi Hindi Linguistic Team

We’ve managed to accomplish one part of the task: Translation of Zeitgeist Addendum in Hindi.

We now need to move into the 2nd stage: Proofreading

This is nothing but the same as translating, but the goal is to spot the errors in the translation if any.

The current dotsub file which was accessible to all will now be locked down and become available only for proofreaders to make necessary changes.

The translation is backed up and attached in this email, so we can always revert back to the current version in case the proofreader makes changes which are not as good as the translated version.

The question I have for all of you is: What would you prefer?

Option 1. Do it in sequence, one by one with a round of interviews after each proofread. This would require the proofreaders to be totally different from the translators as it would be a conflict of interest.

Option 2. Do it as a group together using tools like Skype, Etherpad and Team Speak as a team. This will probably take longer and also require the co-ordination of a lot of people to get this accomplished. In this case a person involved in translation cannot proofread his or her own portion. They can only proofread a portion that was translated by another person. For example, from the current list of assignments listed below, Pankaj can proofread Mukti’s work: “00:00 - 45:43" and Mukti can proofread Pankaj’s work: “45:46 - 51:02"

00:00 - 45:43 - Unassigned but traslated by Mukti & Rishi (Completed)
45:46 - 51:02 - Assigned to Pankaj Behl (Completed)
51:02 - 55:53 - Assigned to Vineet (Completed)
55:53 - 1:00:01 - Assigned to Gaurav Sauda (Completed)
1:00:01 - 1:10:56 - Assigned to TD (AKA Tarandeep Singh) (Completed)
1:10:56 - 1:26:58 - Assigned to Pankaj  Behl (Completed)
1:26:58 - 1:30:59 - Assigned to Mukti & Rishi. (Completed)
1:30:59 - 1:34:13 - Assigned to Saket (Completed)
1:34:13 - 1:40:00 - Assigned to Devkant Gandhi (Completed)
1:40:00 - 1:44:08 - Assigned to Anurag Mehra (Completed)
1:44:08 - 1:45:01 - Assigned to Mukti & Rishi (Completed)
1:45:01 - 1:47:01 - Assigned to Devkant Gandhi (Completed)
1:47:01 - 1:50:00 - Assignment - Mukti & Rishi (Completed)
1:50:01 - 1:58:20 - Assigned to Pankaj Behl (Completed)

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

I’m attaching the SRT files (English + Hindi) for everyone to view offline:

Awaiting for a response from all of you.

Sounds good.. So Devkant, let us do the following as a first round…..

You ONLY proofread Mukti’s work and make changes as you see fit and send me the modified SRT file:

00:00 - 45:43 - Unassigned but traslated by Mukti & Rishi (Completed)

1:26:58 - 1:30:59 - Assigned to Mukti & Rishi. (Completed)

1:44:08 - 1:45:01 - Assigned to Mukti & Rishi (Completed)

1:47:01 - 1:50:00 - Assigned to Mukti & Rishi (Completed)

We will connect on Skype to discuss modifications at a time convenient for both Ma and you.

I will get Ma (Mukti) to proofread everyone else’s work below and revert back with changes if any.

45:46 - 51:02 - Assigned to Pankaj Behl (Completed)
51:02 - 55:53 - Assigned to Vineet (Completed)
55:53 - 1:00:01 - Assigned to Gaurav Sauda (Completed)
1:00:01 - 1:10:56 - Assigned to TD (AKA Tarandeep Singh) (Completed)
1:10:56 - 1:26:58 - Assigned to Pankaj Behl (Completed)

1:30:59 - 1:34:13 - Assigned to Saket (Completed)
1:34:13 - 1:40:00 - Assigned to Devkant Gandhi (Completed)
1:40:00 - 1:44:08 - Assigned to Anurag Mehra (Completed)

1:45:01 - 1:47:01 - Assigned to Devkant Gandhi (Completed)

1:50:01 - 1:58:20 - Assigned to Pankaj Behl (Completed)

Till then let everyone hold on to proofreading. Mukti and I will connect with only those people whose translation work we modify to get their consent on the changes.
