Firstly, please go to the installation folder of the program (default location is C:\Program Files\MiniTool Partition Wizard 12\), locate the partitionwizard.exe.ini file (sometimes, the .ini suffix is invisible), open the file, add one line under [General], copy DestPathSimpleMode=1 and paste it to the file, as the following screenshot shows:

Then, save the change. If you are not allowed to save the change, please close the file without saving the change, then copy the file to another drive, drive E: for example, open the copied file, add one line under [General], copy DestPathSimpleMode=1, paste it to the file, save the change, and copy the changed file back to replace the original one in the installation folder.

Files found by file system scan are saved in Existing Partition or Lost Partition and have the original names while files found by the RAW scan are saved in the More Lost Files folder and lose the original names. Most files found by these 2 methods are repeated files.

Then, please try saving some files again and see whether they can open correctly. This time, please save files with the original names as well as save files in the More Lost Files (RAW) folder:

However, if this method still doesn't work, errors may occur during the process of the first scanning. In this case, please scan the drive again. During the process of scanning, please try previewing and saving some files.

If you are using the Copy Disk feature, please make sure the target disk can hold all files on the source disk. If you are using the Migrate OS feature, please make sure the target disk can hold all files in partition C. However, if the target disk has enough space to hold files but you still receive the error, please check whether the partitions on the source disk are BitLocker encrypted, like this:

MiniTool Partition Wizard supports extending a dynamic volume, but you may need to move the unallocated space to be after the volume you want to extend. If there is a primary partition existing in front of the unallocated space, as the below screenshot shows, please use the Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk function of our program to convert the disk to basic and then extend the volume to the unallocated partitions again. However, if it is an Other partition, you may need to delete it, and then extend the partition again.

Exception: license keys for old versions can't be used to register new versions if users do not purchase free lifetime upgrade service or if the 1-year free upgrade service is already expired. In addition, we do not provide the download link for discontinued versions, so please keep the installer well.

Please boot the computer from MiniTool bootable disc again. This time, if you click OK when it is launching the program, please do not select anything else in MiniTool PE Loader. You just wait and then MiniTool Partition Wizard appears.

The manner in which this particular update has been handled has been poor in my opinion. The update is only being pushed out to Windows update or Windows update for business and is not on the Microsoft catalog nor WSUS. So this update has been pushed to machines that I would call "lightly" managed or "unmanaged". Some of these impacted machines have no TPM chip nor do they have bitlocker installed so the need for this update is nil.

The communication thus far has been to instruct us to manually attempt to resize partitions which are not easy to do for anyone, and particularly not for a lot of machines. There are few tools that I can see that let us know if we're going to hit this issue other than to attempt to install and see if it fails. The PowerShell script is not something I'd have my 95 Dad want to do to his machine, let alone me wanting to do it to a bunch of machines at the office.

We're now at Friday, right before patching weekend and may I request a lot more communication and perhaps someone going back and adding in detection into the patch to at least not attempt to install on machines that have no tpm chip and do not have bitlocker installed. These machines are not at risk.

@Arto_Montonen I deleted partition 3 which was WinRE. I created a new NTFS partition without name and drive letter via Windows Disk Management. In the CMD window, I changed the partition ID number. I using the disk part program, when the correct disk and partition have been selected. The ID number can be viewed with the det part command and the set part 27 command sets the ID number, which is the recovery ID partition number of the MBR disk. After that, WinRE starts pointing to disk 0 and partition 3 again when I enable WinRE function again.

I managed to repair the partitions manually with the diskpart program and Microsoft's MBR disk instruction is incorrect and leads to errors, but the GPT disk instruction works. Microsoft made a mistake when it combined the instructions for MBR and GPT disks into one instruction, it led to errors in the MBR disk instruction. Formatting works differently on MBR and GPT disks.

I updated one version of Windows 10 Home PC last week and it didn't get stuck with this error. The user had forgotten the windows PIN code and claimed it was 0000, but that is no longer allowed by Microsoft. I found the e-mail address and password of his Microsoft account, which I used to change the new PIN code. His computer hadn't been used for over 6 to 12 months because logging into Windows 10 Home didn't work. The Windows PIN code can be changed if Microsoft account email address and password have been written down on a piece of paper.

I've found the easiest and safest workaround for Windows RE update problem is to (1) disable Windows RE, (2) change the Windows RE partition type from "Recovery" to "Primary", (3) enable Windows RE, apply the update, then repeat the first three steps, changing the partition type back to "Recovery". You don't need to resize or delete partitions.

WARNING: The steps below involve making changes to your hard disk's partition table. Any misstep could render your system unbootable and potentially result in data loss. This may not work for everyone. Stop if your results at any step are inconsistent with those shown below. Proceed at your own risk.

@shanen0 I'm sure the "you" you're referring to is Microsoft and not Susan Bradley. Susan is a long-time member of the IT community whose invaluable contributions have benefitted IT professionals everywhere. Susan isn't a Microsoft employee, yet she donates countless hours helping others to navigate the complexities of managing Microsoft products and services in an enterprise and small business environment. A true MVP.

Anyway I ordered the CD along with the Kickstart ROMs for my A1200 from Amigastore.eu. I have to award top marks for presentation as the CD came in a very attractive DVD style case along with professionally printed jacket. Inside there is a 14 page manual and the silk-screen printed CD itself. Finally but by no means least there were 2 new Kickstart ROMs to replace the existing chips.

There should have been three additional icons on the desktop, one for each of the partitions I had created. However for some reason DH0: was not being displayed. I tried going back through the HDToolbox configuration and making DH0 smaller and even making it the only partition on the card. Nothing worked.

I have the OS 3.2 and the 3.2.1 roms which i have fitted. I did write back to floppy disk MMULibds Amiga and the Modules A1200 and the Install 3.2
Now i thought i could install the OS 3.2 from CD alone on a fresh partitioned hard drive?

The cd0 is already mounted in storage/devs on the Install 3.2 disk but my cd rom is not detected?
Have i understood this all wrong and the OS 3.2 needs to be installed via floppy disks which need to be all written back to floppies from the cd?

Hi again, It seems i can install OS 3.2 from scratch via cd ? I had to reinstall OS 3.1 then my fastATA driver then drag my CD2 and CD3 icon from my workbench DEVS:DOS drivers to the Install 3.2 Install disk in Storage DosDrivers: so now whenever i do a fresh install from OS 3.2 i boot the Install 3.2 disk and the OS3.2 CD is there ?

This has been a slightly longer post, but I hope it is useful. The steps involved can take a while, but they are quite simple to follow. As always, if you need me to clarify anything, let me know in the comments.

Hey Hamish,
Thanks for the wonderful guide. I am currently stuck on the step of adding the .efi driver to the USB. Once I use Rufus to install the image of refind on my USB my windows 10 no longer recognizes the USB stick.

I think this can be resolved by either using the Windows Command Prompt, or using a Linux live disk. Are you comfortable with either of these options? If it comes to it, I could just upload an image of my USB stick that has the driver pre-installed.

Thanks for such a quick response! I have a basic understanding of Linux terminal. If you have an image of your USB stick that you can upload that would be amazing for me and it might also help other people that follow your guide in the future.

Hi- the title and contents of this post suggest that you are using rEFInd, yet the file paths you give are for the Clover bootloader, and the .img file seems to only contain Clover bootloader-related files. Am I crazy, or does this not have anything to do with rEFInd?

Thank you so much for such an informative post. I have cloned my Win 10 OS to an NVMe drive but my older computer can only see the drive as storage.
I tried to go the easy route that you included in your post and tried to download your file:

I left a reply earlier but it seems to have been deleted.
I followed your instruction for a Win 10 USB Clover boot disk, but no matter what I do I get no result.
My motherboard is an ASUS A88X Pro with an AMD A10 780K Processor. I have installed a WD Black SN750 1TB.
I downloaded your file: and followed your instruction, but not having any luck.
PS: if you were to supply this setup on a USB disk for Win 10 I would gladly pay for it. I have spent all day today trying to create the USB boot drive to be able to boot the NVMe which I have cloned my Win 10 OS onto.
When you have t waste that amount of time you have to consider it it is really worth the trouble.
I would have loved to have got this to work. Do you have any suggestions that may help.
