Im trying to shutdown one of our hosts to see if we can resolve an issue with the omnistack accelerator card showing an error status. The HP maintenance guides state that a troubleshooting step when the accelerator card is not detected or the system cannot communicate with the card is to power off the host, wait 3 minutes for the system to fully shut down, then power the system back up.

I'm attempting to do this but in the vSphere web client when I right-click on the host and go to "All HPE Simplivity Actions.." the option "Shutdown virtual controller" is greyed out. Why is it greyed out? Should I ssh into the ovc and use the svt-shutdown-safe command?

I haven't tried this yet but will today. A question just occurred to me though, I don't have to worry about the ovc not coming back up if the accelerator card still isn't working when I boot everything back up, right?

Ah, well I'm glad I haven't tried this then. I was only going to attempt this because the official simplivity Maintenance and Installation guide lists shutting down the host as a troubleshooting step when the accelerator card is not responding or not detected. This is what I'm seeing when I look at the Accelerator card in vCenter:

Good day all,

I am by no means an IT expert, just looking for a little help creating a simple home network with one ssid to replace an old wifi network.

I'm sure I am missing something easy but here we go. I have a few AP 505's. I am just trying to create a simple network using these. I've upgraded to the new Instant firmware, I can log into them individually by both the IP and the "setmeup" ssid. Following the documentation, it says to create a VC IP, done. When I goto "add access point" the little plus sign is greyed out. I have converted them to default virtual controller mode. One is set to "master". They pull dchp from my fortigate router via a Poe switch.

Also tried to open a case on Aruba support portal but when Ilogin to it, it says that they cant find my profile and i need to open a case with Aruba support portal, but how i'll do that if the Aruba support portal tells me that my profile cant be found!!!

After the support case opened with ASP and some testing with another switch I found that the reason for all this weird behaviour in Aruba APs was because of the security settings that were set on by default in the swtich by the manufacturer.

I have a robot studio station that I am working on that has 4 virtual controllers in it. The customer supplied the backups, and they were not recreateable virtually due some custom add-on specific to that customer. So I hacked apart the backup until I was able to get the virtual controller wizard to accept the backup.

Of course, after I do this, and get all the dress packs and tools attached to the virtual robot, the customer supplied some custom plugins to robot studio that allows the recreation of the provided backups with no issues.

Down to my question. Is it possible to swap out the virtual controller without removing the arm from the station? This is easy to do in roboguide, but I'm having trouble finding an analog in robotstudio.

OK, I only got a license a couple months ago, so I have not used it much. Here is what I tried. I opened a demo station, which was a multimove system. From the home tab, virtual controller, new controller. Eventually had this box

Notice where it has a drop down for use existing library. I chose one of the arms already there. So it added a new controller which controls this arm. BUT....the other multimove controller T_ROB_2 also controls that arm! What I think that you can do for your situation is to create the new controllers from backup. Add them to your station, and tell it to use the existing station arm like I did.

Sometimes, even after restoring the backups, virtual robot will complain about missing configurations and so on, so it is a good idea perform a third step and re-reload EIO.cfg and MOC.cfg separately, after complete restore of the backup.

OK - I have two cats trapping me in my bed, whilst I run through a bunch of software installs - plugins, mostly, and so I cannot currently play notes on my not-as-handy-as-it-was-supposed-to-be midi controller.
