Located just a few steps from the most beautiful avenue in the world, the Palais des Congrs de Paris hosts more than 200 national and international events each year, bringing together more than one million participants from all over the world.

With its 17,000 m of exhibition halls, its 4 amphitheatres that can accommodate 370 to 3,700 people, its 22 conference rooms with seating for 100 to 380 people and its 82 meeting rooms, the Palais des Congrs de Paris has been the benchmark venue for internationally renowned congresses, trade fairs and conferences for over 40 years.

As a member of the Viparis team since January 2024, my role is to deal with all incoming requests for your event projects such as shows, conventions, trade shows and corporate events. Velasquez had god-like status at LARA but I never quite understood exactly what set him apart from other painters. His superiority was clear, but how and why was his work so much better than that of others?

The recent exhibition at the Grand Palais gave me the chance to see many more of his paintings and to begin to formulate some specific ideas about his work. The exhibition itself is an exemplar of the usual chronological model, moving through his training, early works and key periods to his followers and legacy. This format allows close comparison of his works with those of his teacher, whose skills he quickly exceeded, and with his followers, of whom only Del Mazo (also his son-in-law) seemed to grasp much of his technique.
