1996is a 1996 album by Japanese composer and pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto. It contains a selection of Sakamoto's most popular compositions plus two new compositions, all arranged for a standard piano trio. The arrangement of "Bibo no Aozora" that appears on this album has appeared in several film and television projects; one notable example is the film Babel, whose soundtrack features both the 1996 version and the /04 version of the song.
A concert, called Ryuichi Sakamoto Trio World Tour, was organized in 1996. The setlist of this concert is different than the original album. This concert was played at 6 venues in Japan,[1] and the Bunkamura Orchard Hall concert was live streamed on August 28, 1996, on the Internet, and was one of the first concerts to be streamed.[2] This concert was released on both DVD and Laserdisc.[3]
Backstreet Boys is the debut studio album by American boy band Backstreet Boys, released on May 6, 1996, by Jive Records.[1] It contains some of the band's most successful singles. The album was reissued in 1997 under the same name and released as their debut in the United States. The reissue also includes songs from the band's second international release Backstreet's Back (1997).
The reason I did this hypothetical scenario was to force myself to be intellectually honest and recognize that Nickelback shows promise on Curb. I recognize that my notes are sort of cheap, because we all know how well the band capitalized in the end. Some of Curb is really awful, so awful that you have to admit that they sound really good today by comparison. Honestly, it's night and day. The one good cut is "Pusher," a song I actually repeated a few times. It had to be their single.
Here's the thing. This is the worst thing Nickelback ever did. There's just no way this album can win. Nickelback fans will dislike it because the quality isn't anything close to that of their popular music, a lot of people will hate it simply because it is Nickelback and the rest will hate it because their intuition tells them: this music really sucks.
But keep in mind, a lot of bands really suck when they start out. Some get better over time, while others wind up as "medium main sequence suck stars" for the remainder of their careers. In other words, early Nickelback is still better than 90% of bands you'll ever catch at a local bar.
Backstreet Boys is the self-titled international debut studio album by American boy band Backstreet Boys. The album was released in Europe, Asia, Canada, and other markets. It became one of the biggest debut albums and contains several of the band's most memorable singles. Those singles were later released on the second self-titled debut in the United States in 1997, which compiled songs from this album and the band's second international release, Backstreet's Back.
The album's release date, a topic of some debate, is an exciting aspect of its history. While some sources list 1995 and others 1996, the confusion may stem from releasing different disc versions in various markets. However, official charts for European countries, including Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, all indicate a release date of May 6, 1996. Available data also shows the album making its first appearance on various European charts within a few weeks of that date, further supporting this release date.
A dope album from the least known members of the Boot Camp Clik family. No surprises here, typical New York City mid-nineties noir Hip Hop, but what it does, it does really well. Emcees Top Dog, Louieville Sluggah, and especially Starang Wondah offer tight lyrics throughout, with guest appearances by several BCC crew members to complete the BCC experience.
Hard-edged, uncompromising gangsta rap over banging beats, by some of the West Coast greats: WC, Mack 10 & Ice Cube, with especially WC taking center stage. An essential album for those who are into gangsta rap.
New Orleans-based Master P is and will forever be one of the most significant figures in Southern Hip Hop. Ice Cream Man is his fifth studio album and one of the best in his massive catalog. This was the project that put him on nationally, and it was the perfect stepping stone to his absolute best album Ghetto D that would drop in 1997.

13 years after Passion, Grace, and Fire, which did not find its audience, and 15 years after the one and only Friday Night in San Francisco, the most amazing guitar trio has finally released a new perfect album.
Hey,i`m a newbie so forgive me if this is old topic/news.
Why is this a japan only cd release, any good reason for it?
And most important: Is there a reason I should get a import copy?
Is the sound on ...lets say...Tunnel Of Love....noticable better vs the
standard standalone cd release of the album?
Thanks in advance.
I made this observation before, but it seems odd that the albums from the vinyl era were remastered and made available digitally, while the albums from the digital era were remastered and made available on vinyl. (Referring to the Album Collection Vol 2 in the US.)
In August 1996, Oasis delivered two record-breaking, era-defining performances in front of 250,000 fans in Knebworth Park in England. Recently, the iconic rock band released a feature-length documentary of the historic event, Oasis Knebworth 1996, which is now being followed up with a special live album.
Stores such as Wal-Mart frequently refuse to sell albums containing lyrics they believe are too sexually explicit or excessively violent. But this is apparently the first time that a major retailer has banned a song in which it is the target of a lyric.
Wal-Mart spokesman Ingram characterized the lyrics as an unfair attack on the Bentonville, Ark.-based chain, which he said has strict policies prohibiting the sale of guns to minors. He said the company believes that the song insults Wal-Mart employees, many of whom are involved in charities for children.
In 1994, Wal-Mart stopped selling handguns in its stores, making them available only through catalogs. That decision came after the company was sued by relatives of a Texas man who allegedly killed his parents with a gun bought at a Wal-Mart even though he had indicated on a federal form that he had been treated for mental problems. At the time, Wal-Mart denied that the decision was related to the lawsuit.
In 1992, a judge dismissed a lawsuit that had accused Wal-Mart of selling bullets to two minors who used them to kill a man working in a Florida auto parts store, citing a previous legal case that found that a person who illegally sold a gun could not have known it would be used in a crime. In 1994, Wal-Mart was sued by the family of a man killed in a Texas courthouse shootout by an assailant who had allegedly bought a gun from Wal-Mart even though he was under indictment on sexual assault charges.
Crow could not be reached for comment. The Wal-Mart decision brought immediate criticism from record industry executives, who noted the irony that an anti-violence song is being banned from a retailer even as the entertainment industry is under fire from politicians such as presidential candidates Bob Dole and President Clinton for violent content in films, TV shows and song lyrics.
Executives said most of her loyal fans will be able to find the album regardless of the Wal-Mart decision, although in some rural areas where Wal-Mart is the dominant record retailer, sales will no doubt be hindered.
Other industry executives speculated that the album could even get a boost from the controversy, although Cafaro said the company has no plans to pick a fight with Wal-Mart or to exploit the decision as a marketing opportunity.
In 1996, heavy metal was all over the place! With the genre ballooning over the last ten years to incorporate a wealth of different sounds and styles, bands were beginning to mix and match. Pulling aspects from their favorite artists, bands took the melody of the screaming twin guitar attack of traditional metal, weaving it into the fabric of death metal. Thrash acts were pummeling away with a newfound affection for groove while some bands managed to stay the course without adapting their music to the current trends.
The year certainly had something for everyone, though sticklers of the previous decade had much less to choose from as newer acts began to dominate what metal meant in the mid-90s. Tool were truly coming into their own, crafting mind-bending progressive tunes that were embraced by the mainstream, while Opeth were doing the same for death metal in the underground. Type O Negative defined gothic metal and Pantera continued to push their own boundaries with their most aggressive effort yet.
