You can download this new firmware from the following link:
To update the firmware, follow these steps:
1. Download the ZIP file from the link above or from hims-inc.com on a PC.
2. Extract the ZIP file. You should see one .bin file.
3. Copy this .bin file to the root of an SD card.
4. Insert the SD card into the Braille EDGE 40.
5. Hold down F8 while pressing the reset button.
(NOTE: It is NOT necessary to hold down reset.)
6. Continue holding F8 until your Braille EDGE speaks, "Start system update".
7. The machine plays progress sounds to indicate that something is in fact happening.
8. The machine should say, "Update Success" and then restart itself after ten seconds.
Check that your machine is running version 1.1, build 20141124. To do this:
1. From the Main Menu, use the SPACEBAR repeatedly until you get to "Information".
2. Press ENTER to open this screen.
3. Press SPACE-DOT 4 twice. This will display the version and build you are running.
We hope you find this update useful. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at (512) 837-2000, pressing option 2 for Tech Support.

Thank you,

Michael Jones
