Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday said it would soon conduct a state-wide survey to identify quacks playing with the health of the people. A survey would be conducted soon to catch the quacks and accordingly they would be punished, state Health Minister Rajeev Bindal told the state assembly in reply to a question of Kaul Singh Thakur of the Congress. He said conditions laid down in the rules in connection with private clinics would be followed sincerely and those operating without registration would be dealt with sincerely. In reply to Thakur's question that many of these non-medical practioners active particularly in the interior areas of the state were Himachalis and how many were outsiders, the minister said the figure could be got only in the survey. Bindal said the Prem Kumar Dhumal government has accorded top priority to health and no compromise would be made on providing quality medicare facilities to the common man. The minister said that a committee set up a committee on the direction of the state High Court to deal with doctors, clinics and chemist shops during inspection from November 2007 to March this year has found 90 clinics working without registration and five unauthorised chemist shops in the state.
