UPDATE:

NW Imperial Terrace is closed due to moving earth;
SW Skyline remains closed

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Bureau of Transportation announced that NW Imperial Terrace was closed to the general public due to evidence of moving earth on the hillside above the street. SW Skyline Boulevard remains closed due to a landslide. All other streets that were closed during the recent storm are now open.

NW Imperial Terrace was closed to the general public between NW Calumet Terrace and NW MacLeay Boulevard at 11:30 a.m. due to moving earth on the hillside above the street. Specifically, the area of the hillside below NW Calumet Terrace and above NW Imperial shows evidence that the ground is moving. PBOT maintenance crewmembers and geotechnical engineers are at the hillside working to assess the situation. The street will remain closed until further notice.

There is no local access to NW Imperial in the closure area due to safety concerns. PBOT asked the general public to observe closures signs and follow direction from city officials at the scene. A map of the area is at http://bit.ly/zERVJb.

SW Skyline Boulevard remained closed between SW Barnes Road and SW Westgate Drive due to a landslide. Signs are in place to direct travelers around the slide area. The road will remain closed until city engineers determine that the hill is stable and city crews have cleaned debris from the roadway.

To report flooded streets, downed trees and other hazards, call PBOT’s maintenance dispatch at 503-823-1700. Emergency updates and information on street closures, highway road conditions, transit schedules and service disruptions are available online at www.publicalerts.org. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
