Dear HHV Homeowners,
As you are no doubt aware we are in a Extreme High Wind and Fire Alert mode right now.  We should all be prepared to evacuate should an immediate evacuation be ordered.

1) If you are handicapped or disabled in any way that would slow your ability to evacuate, you should leave the area before dark to shelter elsewhere. If you decide to leave, please tell your neighbors so they will know you are safe and won’t spend precious time checking on you.

2) Because of expected wind gusts up to 70 mph. It is advised that you bring in or secure any outdoor furniture, grills etc.

3) If possible, we suggest that you do not put your trash, recycle or compost bins out tonight. They will be an obstacle should we need to evacuate, and if the winds are as high as expected, even if we don’t have to evacuate, there will be trash all over the streets.  Please consider waiting one more week to put them out.

4) Park all cars off the street, put your evacuation vehicle facing the street in the direction you expect to leave.

5) Some good news, PG&E does not plan to turn off our power during this event.

6) If you haven’t done this already, set your emergency radio to 1610AM and sign up for the emergency notification systems:

PG&E has set up emergency services shelters.  Here is a link to help you find the shelters, should you need one.  Please note that these shelters are not for overnight stays. The Oakland shelter is at Merritt College.

Stay safe everyone,
Ann Kneissl

Hi everyone,
It seems that some people have already left and put their trash cans out before they left earlier today. As a community safety favor, if you see anyone’s trash cans out and they have left, please bring them into your garage until this is over or they get back whichever comes first.

If you have left, please contact your neighbor and let them know.

For your information, attached is a copy of the HHV Emergency Roster with the phone contact information for your neighbors so you can reach out to each other if need be.
