Dear HHV Homeowners,

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning beginning tonight Monday Sept. 7 at 10 pm until Wednesday Sept. 9 at 8 am. This email is a reminder of what we need to do to prepare in case evacuation orders are issued.
  1. Please be sure to have your emergency to go bags and valuables ready, your pets ready and your car filled with gas.
  2. DO NOT PARK ON THE STREETS. Park the one car you will be using to evacuate on the driveway and park second vehicles in your driveway or garage. Do not park in guest parking spaces. We need the streets to be clear so we can all leave unimpeded and emergency vehicles can get by. With the COVID-19 restrictions, most all of us are home so there will be 100 cars just from our phase leaving at the same time all trying to get onto Hiller, we need to minimize that traffic jam as much as possible.
  3. If you are not here in HHV and are sheltering elsewhere, please let your neighbor know.  We will know you are safe and your driveway could be used to park any excess vehicles to get them off the streets.
  4. If you haven’t done this already, set your emergency radio to 1610AM and sign up for the emergency notification systems:

Here are links to information from the City of Berkeley that we think is easy to follow.  Please review them now so that you are ready to go as much as possible.

Though wind and not lightening are expected to be the major danger for this Red Alert, they have not ruled out lightening as a possibility. Attached please find an article from the San Jose Mercury News to remind us all what we need to do in a Thunder and Lightening Storm.  Many of you probably know all of these precautions, but a reminder never hurts. Thank you Marlene Zuelsdorff for sharing this.

Please stay safe,
Ann Kneissl
