Other Hillcrest redirects

Hi Everyone,

After 17 years in my house and 9 years at Hillcrest (my 8th grader graduates this June and thus is no longer a sibling) my younger son was redirected to Kaiser. I must admit that I am more than a little bummed.

I realize this is a lottery, but I just had to gripe. Any one else feel like venting????

Did it come with a wait list number?  Just curious if that may hold out some hope for you.

Thanks for starting the sharing - I'm sure there are many mixed emotions going on out there.  I know its hard for those that got in to share, but folks want to know about that too.

Hi Karin,

It did not come with a number, but I went to Mike Bonino's office and found out that it is #4, which sounds good until you realize that 25 of those accepted were siblings and therefore unlikely to decline.

Don't make plans that #4 won't happen - they reached far lower on the wait list last year.  You'll be surprised when the push comes to shove of who makes what decision.

I feel your pain. We too were redirected. We live a block away from
Hillcrest and will have to drive by it every day to take our son to
Kaiser. Hey you are ahead of us. We are number 8 on the waitlist;
might as well be number 19 with the economy the way it is. At ;east
you have had the luck to have had at least one of your kids at
Hillcrest. If we actually end up at Kaiser then my younger daughter
will almost surely end up there as well.

You'd be surprised at all the shuffling and jostling that goes on. We were number 8 on the waitlist last year. We were informed the weekend before school started that we could attend HC if we wanted. It was a tough choice to make at the last minute.

I think ultimately people further down the waitlist than us were also admitted.
