Folks,
We're about a month out from the HCR 1000 and I've got a rider from Colorado signed up who's concerned that's he's the only one on the list so far. Not entirely unusal in this small group, but could those of you who are planning on being there (because you don't make a decision like this the night before on a whim) go ahead and sign up?

Should you change your mind, I can easily remove you from the list. I haven't contacted Super 8 about a negotiated rate as I'm only explecting a handful of riders, but maybe if I see sufficient numbers there could be some bargaining power. Still, it's Super 8, it's not the Embassy Suites-- it's not gonna amount to much either way.

Take note, longtime fans of this brevet, the route has changed, Dan Colvin has made some adjustments on day two that steer you away from the construction on 360 and then take some interesting turns all the way to Fischer Store road at about mile 71. Nothing like the joy of not knowing what's around the turn of the road and over the rise of the next hill, the simple pleasure of riding new roads! Thank you, Dan.

I welcome chatter on this thread, let's build some enthusiasm for this party on wheels. I'll be at Super 8 the Friday night before for pizza at the picnic tables like we usually do. If there are any folks out there who want to learn the logistics of riding a 3 day event, I am always happy to give a few pointers (okay, a minutiae-obsessive lecture?). I may not be doing this stuff any more, but I love talking about it and I particularly like preventing mistakes before they happen. (You went to bed without so much as even pounding an Ensure? Do you think your body runs on "good intentions?") Your plan doesn't have to be MY plan, just so long as you HAVE a plan. Hope we can ease into the low double digits on the sign up list.

thanks y'all,
Jeff

Please, don't everyone respond all at once, we don't want to crash the HCR website. Once again, if you're planning on riding the 1000K, please sign up. I've got a rider in Colorado who may cancel his plans if he thinks he'll be riding the event solo.

thank you!
Jeff

Maybe if there were 1 less zero on the end?  lol.  I hope you find some more riders, Jeff!

I was going to suggest that maybe riders don't want to go those distances as much as before, but I see there are 21 riders signed up for the Colorado 1200 Front Range brevet.

Folks, this is traditionally a pretty quiet discussion list. Everything you need to know is on the HCR site. There are only a handful of us and several of the most active of us have pretty much quit riding. Having said that, it's difficult for me to believe that the only HCR planning to ride the 1000K is Dan Colvin. It costs nothing to sign up. I can remove your name should you change your mind. I understand we're still a month out, but some people actually make long range plans and at the moment it looks like only two people are riding. With the expectation that there are people out there hesitant to sign up, worried that they won't have anyone to ride with, could those of you who hope to ride please show yourselves, take the 20 seconds out of your day and sign up?  Don't do it for me. Do it for the other riders you hope to ride with. Once again, thank you, Dan, for leading the way. Next stop: nagging emails to each of the usual suspects...

Jeff
