Rando buddies, Planning the December 7th 600km out of George Town.

From experience, booking hotels early is a lot cheaper.

I’ll be booking a room with 2 beds and trying to talk Pam into joining me.

Last year after booking at the Days Inn, we move the party to Candlewood, because Mark was coming and we thought he needed to be upgrade. I’d like to avoid moving around and do this once.

I just called all 3 of the hotels that I’ve used in the past, near the start, and their prices are listed below, I don’t mind the ‘Dump' at Days Inn, or a slight upgrade to Roadway Inn, or even the nicer of the 3, Candlewood, just would like a consensus so we are all at the same shack, and can coordinate dinner, start times, and after ride meet ups more efficiently.

3 Nites Days Inn W/tax(Wyndham rewards) Danny 512-591-0732 = $233.91 W/ tax (all rooms have Frig & micro)

3 Nites at Roadway Inn (Choice rewards) Jimmy 512-863-5572 = $283.13 W/ tax (all rooms have Frig & micro) bigger rooms, than Days Inn if I remember correctly.

3 Nites at Candlewood Suites (IHG rewards) spoke to Christina = $447.66 W/ tax…. but she’s working on getting that price down for us, and will call me back.

If I don’t hear back today, I’ll book something, I don’t care, just want to be done.

Probably a good idea to book, even it you are on the fence, I think they are all 24 hour cancelation, but I’d double check if you are worried about that.

If you don’t want to do both days of the 600km, I think Day 2 only is an option as a perm or maybe a brevet, and a couple of folks did that last year.

I’ll be down Friday early enough to do dinner at Frankie’s.

Take good care,
DanD

I’m fine with Days Inn. We won’t be there long anyway. The last time I stayed there it was fine. Let me know and I’ll book as well. Just got sent home from school with Covid so I’ve got some time to make reservations.

Peter,
Take a look at the ride description on the heartoftexasrandonneurs.org website.  I already found construction on Day 2 route so the routes won't be finalized until a week or so before.
Day one
Day two
