TheParks and Recreation Department has launched a holistic, Village-wide, health movement named FitCrest. This initiative encourages residents and the community at-large to focus on actions that lead to a healthier life. FitCrest enhances the mind, body and soul by engaging in simple healthy activities everyday.

Check-in begins at 4:30 pm, Warm-up begins at 5:45 pm, and Run begins at 6 pm. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly zombie run. Dodge zombies throughout the streets of Pinecrest on an adventure to discover the zombie antidote and bring it back to help save humanity and survive the apocalypse. Enjoy a 40-foot zombie maze, an escape room, obstacle course, photo booth, music, refreshments, and more! Runners will receive an event t-shirt and a "life-force" ribbon to wear for the Zombie Run. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes.

Everyone is welcome to this family event. Runners, walkers, joggers, strollers, wheelchairs, and even four-legged friends. Get a fresh start in 2025 with the Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department at the fourth annual FitCrest 5K. The 5K run is a timed event, and all race bibs have a timing chip. Pre-registered 5K participants will receive an event t-shirt while supplies last. After the race, stay for more FitCrest activities, including fitness-related games, obstacle courses, bounce houses, music, and a variety of vendors showcasing their programs and camps. FitCrest is a community initiative that encourages all individuals to pursue personal health and wellness goals by taking small steps each day. For more information, contact Janelle Marzouka.

The Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with local businesses and organizations to build a holistic health movement called FitCrest. FitCrest encourages everyone to focus on actions that lead to a healthier life and community by creating opportunities in everyday situations for people to focus on their minds, body, and soul. FitCrest fosters personal growth and development by encouraging individuals to make small choices focused on one or more of the main pillars of FitCrest. Simple choices such as reading a book, having a healthy meal, enjoying a quiet park, going to the gym, taking a walk, or even turning off your cell phone all help lead an individual to a healthier life and may help to make additional healthy choices more effortless in the future.

It takes everyone to build a healthy community. That is why we partner with local businesses and organizations throughout Pinecrest. Have you seen the big orange #FitCrest sticker in the window of your favorite business? If you have, it means the company offers a good or service to help you along your FitCrest journey. Ask them what they provide; it may surprise you. New FitCrest business partners are added regularly, check back often for a complete list of FitCrest partners.

In addition to partnering with local businesses and organizations, the Parks and Recreation Department hosts several FitCrest activities throughout the year. These activities include the FitCrest 5K held the first Saturday in January, the annual Zombie Run, a monthly FitCrest Friday activity, and various FitCrest challenges.
