==============================================
“Training Hikes” = Longer distance + Faster pace + Fewer stops (+ sometimes more challenging terrain)
They step up from 12 miles to a
20 miler in preparation for the full 28 on 5/21/17. These are also
appropriate for those planning to do the 11 mile option that day.
If
you are thinking of hiking the 28 or 11 miles, please attend training hikes if you can. It will help you get
comfortable with the pace as well as parts of the trails taken. In
addition, you'll get to know your fellow hikers, and the miles always
pass more quickly when there is someone to laugh with! Those who
are unable to attend the HFL are of course still welcome on all
training hikes. The hikes increase in mileage, variation of terrain, or
challenge. None are required to participate on May 21, but they are
available and it is strongly suggested you do try at least a few prior
to setting out on a 28 miler.

***
Please note that all of these hikes are coordinated through the LI
Greenbelt Trail Conference, a non-profit organization that maintains
over 200 miles of trails, advocates for preservation of open space, and
leads approximately 200 free hikes annually. Visit www.ligreenbelt.org to learn more and become a member of this worthwhile group! Plus, additional volunteers always welcome!
If any questions, please call, text, or email. Thanks!
Hope to see you on the trails!
Enjoy,
Shari
