Although it still feels like winter this week, spring is approaching quickly so we are now starting "Hike for Life season"! Please join us this coming Saturday (see invitation).
AN INVITATION FOR THIS SATURDAY
The board of the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference invites you to the annual members' meeting on Saturday, March 18th at 12 noon at the Cold Spring Harbor library. We will be in the large meeting room downstairs. Come hear about invasive species, and share your ideas about the LIGTC!
As usual, refreshments will be served. The library is located on NY 25A, north of the junction with NY 108 and west of the Cold Spring Harbor business district.
All are welcome! Current, prospective, and past Greenbelt members... please join us!!
UNOFFICIAL FIRST TRAINING HIKE NEXT SUNDAY
A
great workout in the woods. We will do an out-and-back from the
Trailview Parking Lot all the way to Cold Spring Harbor library and
back. Bring water, lunch, and trail snacks. A hiking pole is
recommended. Heavy rain cancels, light rain does not; call morning
of hike if unsure. Directions: I-495 (L.I.E.) Exit 44N. Merge onto
NY-135 N toward Syosset. Take exit 14 E (Rte. 25 or Jericho Turnpike)
toward Woodbury. Turn right onto 25. Continue to the Trailview
Parking Lot on your left just east of the Stop and Shop.
9:00am – 12 miles – fast – hilly. Info: Tammy, 631-896-1409, between 6-9pm.
*** Please note that all of these hikes are coordinated through the LI Greenbelt Trail Conference, a non-profit organization that maintains over 200 miles of trails, advocates for preservation of open space, and leads approximately 200 free hikes annually. Visit www.ligreenbelt.org to learn more and become a member of this worthwhile group! Plus, additional volunteers always welcome!
If any questions, please call, text, or email. Thanks!
Hope to see you on the trails!
Enjoy,
Shari
