LOGGING: Quickest way to turn up log level and log to a certain fail?

What's the quickest/easiest way to turn up the log level and direct output to a certain file?  Thanks!

to clarify, I'm not using standard java logging, but log4j instead.  I understand that HikariCP uses standard java logging.

Hikari uses SLF4J so you would need to use the SLF4J -> log4j binding [1] and then configure log level normally through your log4J configuration.
