Jamaathul Aakhir 1438 starts from Monday

BISMILAAHI   R'RAHMAANI   R'RAHEEM

​Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Assalaamu Alaikkum wa Rahmathillaahi wa Barakaathu hu

Yesterday (Saturday) "Al Urjoonal Qadeem" like phase of moon was seen at

various places in the world. As you are aware, Noble Qur:aan describes in Verse 36:39

 that Almighty Allaah has decreed manaazil for the moon till it attains this shape.

So this is the last visible phase of the moon in a month. On Sunday the waning

moon will not be seen from anywhere on te earth. Sunday is the Day of Conjunction or

the day in which Moon gets veiled/shadowed.

In Tafsir Ibn Kathir where verse 71:16 is explained it is very categorically stated that

such veiling or shadowing of moon shows the passing of the month.

Today (Sunday) there occurred a Solar Eclipse, which also you all are aware, occurs on 

the Day of Conjunction.  Hence, Solar eclipse which is a Sign of Almighty Allaah marks

the end of a month.

Sheik Yusuf Qaradawi has also, a few years back, gave a Fatwa in this regard.

Considering all these facts, the month of Jamaathul Awwal 1438 ends on Sunday with 

just 29 days - starting on a Sunday and ending on a Sunday.

The month of Jammaathul Aakhir 1438 starts on Monday, at Fajr for

the mankind all over the world.

As stated above, considering the Day of Conjunction as the last day of a month is the only

correct criterion to have an error-free True Hijri Calendar which has dates tallying exactly

with the moon-phases as directed by Almighty Allaah in Noble Qur:aan in verse 2:189.

If this criterion is accepted, we can have calendars tabulated for thousands of years, forward

as well as backward and this will wipe out the chaos and confusion with regard to Eidain,

Ramdhaan fasting etc.

Any other criteria, like Sun set - Moon set difference or visibility of SETTING hilaal o te West etc

will never give an accurate Hijri Calendar and such calendars will only create division 

among the Ummah. Such disunity is not prescribed in Islaam.

The correct criterion desribed above will be the ideal one for a Single Calendar as resolved

during the Internationa Hijri Calendar Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey in Sha'baan 1437.

We request you all to ponder on the above facts so that the decisions agreed upon by nearly

 127 scholars from 57 countries,  at Istanbul,  get implemented and practised by the Ummah.

May Almighty Allaah keep all of us in the  Right Path. Aameen.
