"Day of Conjunction shows the passing of month" - Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Dear Brothers & Sisters
Assalaamu Alaikkum wa Rahmathullaahi wa Barakaathu hu
Many of the Muslims think that calendar is not a big issue and that there is no significance in starting the new months on a particular day. They also think that it is only obligatory to fast 29 or 30 days as decided by the leaders/scholars and that it is not necessary to start and end the Ramdhaan fasting on any particular days and that their leaders/scholars are authorised to announce the starting and ending of Ramdhaan fasting !!!!
In order to enlighten our brothers the
truth that Almighty Allah has pre-determined/decreed a Calendar on the day He
created the heavens and the earth and has designated Moon to show the dates and
how important it is to adhere to this pre-determined Calendar which Almighty Allah has hung in the sky for every human-beings to read the dates from it, we are giving the verses from
Noble Quran for your ready reference:
VERSES FROM NOBLE QURAN ILLUSTRATE THAT CALENDAR WAS PRE-DETERMINED BY ALMIGHTY ALLAH & NOONE CAN CHANGE IT
Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred, (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight against the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) collectively, as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allah is with those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious – Noble Quran 9:36.
The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). (Noble Quran 55:5)
And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you. (Noble Quran 14:33)
Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He Istawa (rose above) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord. (Noble Quran 13:2)
Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Noble Quran 7:54)
He is the) Cleaver of the daybreak. He has appointed the night for resting, and the sun and the moon for reckoning. Such is the measuring of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. (Noble Quran 6:96)
It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the (moon) age and the reckoning. Allah did not create this but in truth. He explains the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for people who have knowledge.( Noble Quran 10:5)
Verily, in the alternation of the night and the day and in all that Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for those people who keep their duty to Allah, and fear Him much. (Noble Quran 10:6)
And We have appointed the night and the day as two Ayat (signs etc.). Then, We have made dark the sign of the night while We have made the sign of day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of the years and the reckoning. And We have explained everything (in detail) with full explanation. (Noble Quran 17:12)
And He has subjected to you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His Command. Surely, in this are proofs for people who understand. (Noble Quran 16:12)
And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness.And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. (Noble Quran 36:37-39)
As a Muslim, what you acquired from the above Quran verses ??
You would have noticed that these verses specifically illustrate the pre-determined way, Almighty Allah has created this Universe. In many of above verses, “Qadhr”, “QADHARAHU” “THAQDHEER” are used.
Let us analyse them:
As you are aware, this word is derived from the root “Qaf-Dal-Ra”.
We are giving the meanings of various words derived from this root :
Qaf-Dal-Ra = to measure/decree/determine/stint/straiten, to have power, to be able, a measure, means, ability, a term/decree, doom, destiny, measured, decreed.
All the above quoted verses about the creation. Movement of celestial bodies, months, day and night etc, are all decreed/destined/determined/ measured out/ set/ pre-ordained by Almighty Allah very much before Adam (AS) was created and no human being can change them.
To know the meaning and to understand fully what these words imply, please refer Quran verses 15:60, 27:57, 25:2, 41:10, 56:60, 80:19, 87:1-3 too.
Even after reading these verses, if one is careless, Noble Quran is asking such people the following:
“What is the matter with you, that you do not hope for any Waqar from Allah. While He has created you (in) Atwar (stages). See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens in tiers. And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp”- ( Noble Quran 71:13-16)
You may be astonished at the above
questions when you notice the way Noble Quran admonishes those strayed away from the Right Path. Noble Quran illustrates as Signs of Allah – creation of human being in stages, heavens
in tiers, Sun and Moon.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir explains the last verse as:
“Almighty Allah made a distinction between them (the sun and moon) in reference to their lighting. He made each one of them in a set manner with a distinct quality so that the night and day may be known. They (the night and day) are known by the rising and setting of the sun. He also determined fixed stations and positions for the moon, and He made its light vary so that sometimes it increases until it reaches a maximum, then it begins to decrease until it is completely veiled. This shows the passing of months and years.”
Please note that the phases of moon show the dates. In the above Tafsir, it is clearly written that the month ends when the moon “ is completely veiled”.
As you all are aware, it is on the Day of Conjunction, moon is completely veiled and it is the Last day of the month. SUBHAANALLAH !!!! This is what we have been telling all along.
We have been telling all for so many years to consider the Day of Conjunction as the Last day of the month and to start the new month at Fajre on the following day. All Praises to Almighty Allah !!!
We request all to study in depth the above verses and ponder over them so that Almighty Allah will bestow knowledge to understand that the Calendar is pre-fixed/determined/decreed by Almighty Allah and that no human being can change them citing any reason whatsoever.
BEWARE OF ALMIGHTY ALLAH !!! Do not manipulate with HIS Calendar.
May Almighty Allah bestow knowledge on all Muslims to consider the Day of Conjunction as the last day of the month and to start the new month at Fajre on the following day irrespective of the time of conjunction or sunset-moonset difference at Makkah or else where. Aameen.
