These .desktop files however assume the application is in $PATH, since the commands in the files to not include an absolute path to the binaries.
There is also an instruction on which commands to run when, in .../scilab-5.5.2/share/applications.
Calling the shared library directly from scilab is the most straightforward to configure and get working, and requires no other scilab modules, but the only two functions that can be called are the high-level functions PropsSI and HAPropsSI
The FOSSEE team has already created a few toolboxes, available through -scilab-toolbox. These can also be located in Scilab's Atom page and searching by the phrase FOSSEE. The method proposed for the hackathon was validated by the FOSSEE team while building the Optimization Toolbox, created by calling the routines in the open source repository COIN-OR -or.org/. Eight toolboxes created through this hackathon are now available on the Atom page, mentioned above. More details follow.
