Boston, MA – The Afrimerican Culture Initiative Inc., is spearheading the Boston Redline 86 - Black History Month Event Series. This pivotal event series, marking the 86th anniversary of the redlining map issued on February 1st, 1938. These 10 events shine a light on the enduring ramifications of redlining and 50 years of Boston Public Schools (BPS) desegregation in Boston.

Blast from the Past: Reflecting on 50 Years of Desegregation - VIRTUAL – Join the transformative dialogue led by the student team of Afrimerican TV (follow on instagram @the.chopituppod). This virtual event will take place on February 22nd at 7pm and will invite community members to engage in a meaningful reflection on the progress and challenges of desegregation in Boston Public Schools.

Road to Reflection: Initiating dialogue on 50 years of BPS desegregation - IN PERSON 
The symposium "Road to Reflection: 50 Years of BPS Desegregation" features a series of discussions and workshops on February 24, aiming to honor the progress towards educational equality. The agenda includes an opening session with music and a documentary excerpt, followed by a panel discussion with community leaders. Workshops cover topics like segregation history, youth activism, cultural hubs, vocational training, and arts in resistance. The event concludes with a group mural activity and summative remarks, all geared towards fostering a 'Beloved Community'.
