Folks,

You've all heard about the unfairness at 225 Centre Street Jackson Square, with regard to local hiring and local businesses of color. The Ferdinand Building is more of the same, but worse! I will *not* be in attendance at this evenings neighborhood meeting in order to attend the following protest (below). I encourage each and every one of you to join me if you are able. Thanks!

Regards,
-Rodney

Subject: Monday, October 15, 2012 - protest at the Ferdinand Building - 6:00am

Hello All:

Please join us on Monday, October 15, 2012 for a protest at the Ferdinand Building at Dudley Station. We will be meeting at 6:00am in the Walgreen’s parking lot for Prayer.  After prayer, we will start to march around the worksite with signs.

It is time to show Shawmut Design and Construction, and the City of Boston that we are not going to continue to let them disrespect our community.  Before they had the Ground breaking ceremony, they promised jobs for our community.  Our elected officials promised us jobs, but how many of us are on that worksite.

We as a people have to take action and take it now.  Let’s get together and work together.  Now is the time.  There is construction everywhere in Boston and we are again left out.

If you cannot come, or don’t want to come, tell someone who can come, and say a prayer for us.As long as we do not block the workers from coming on to the jobsite and do not interfere with their work, I believe it is in our right to protest.  Remember Occupy Boston. Well we are going to occupy the Ferdinand Building.

WE LIVE HERE, WE PLAY HERE, WE DIE HERE, BUT WE CAN’T WORK HERE.

BOSTON JOBS FOR BOSTON RESIDENTS.

Any questions, call the leadership Forum at 617 652-0511.See you on Monday

Economic Development Chair

Thank You.

I hope that many people will come to this Coalition meeting as this is now the only regular neighborhood association meeting in Highland Park.  We have folded several of the neighborhood meeting into this one so we can cut down on the number of meetings people have on their calendars.  If you used to go the the meeting at the Convent (Fort Hill Civic Association) or at Cooper Center (Highland Park Neighborhood Association) or were involved with the association (now defunct) over on Juniper Street then this coalition is the meeting for you.  The agenda will include items from all over highland Park with an important presentation regarding development and green space on Dorr street and well as other issues.

The one time we had an all neighborhood meeting when we were getting a sense of priorities regarding streets, cars and parking one of the requests was that we fold all the groups into one -- which this accomplishes.  The only other group is the PRC which is mandated to have as a part of the Roxbury Master Plan (which should guide the city and neighborhoods in Roxbury) with development planning.  Go here (http://www.bostonredevelopmentauthority.org/planning/PlanningInitsIndividual.asp?InitID=5&action=ViewInit) to see a very large electronic PDF copy of the document.  What it says and the priorities for our neighborhood.

If you want to be more involved with the Project Review Committee the HP-PRC meeting is October 22 at 7 PM at the same location as the Coalition meeting, HYCC.
